I'm ready. The Switch makes big games more manageable.

 

I wish Trackmania Turbo had DLC or something, I want to give them money

 

I'm glad that I'm nearly done with XC1, it's made me even more excited for XC2 coming out so soon

 

Echo the Switch love and pleased to see more invesment is being made in it from publishers. I've found that I've hardley turned my PS4 on since I got a Switch back in March. It's such a great console and it's so good being able to play in handheld mode while chilling in my flat with something on the TV (obviously this doesn't lend well to all games though). Also handheld mode has been perfect for getting me to play more indies that I hadn't previously been doing as much on my PS4.

I'm sure my PS4 will get a look in again in the next few months what with the new AC out now and Far Cry coming out soon and then Red Dead next year. It's just that there's not been a huge deal out on it that's interested me since Horizon.

 

Buy the game on a second non-gold account.

I think we should do a GOTY poll thread.


Pyre would have been higher on my list, but I felt there was TOO much dialogue screens. It could learn from Persona where each dialogue page is used with small amounts of text, but more often/interesting dialogue.

Also I’m not far enough into Nier to put it on my list. I’m hoping when I beat Persona I can hop back into Nier.

 

I always avoid GOTY threads because I feel like I have to have played everything on the list to be eligible.

That said my personal GOTY is BotW. A month left and I’m pretty sure nothing else can top it. Best traversal in any open game I’ve ever played by a huge margin - running, gliding, horseback riding, makeshift airship flying, swimming, waterfall ice-creating stairs climbing, and just plain rock climbing. It’s so good.

Super Mario Odyssey came close but I just enjoy the slow burn of Zelda more.

 

My top games for the year I think are

1.) Nier Automata
2.) BotW
3.) Mario
4.) Persona 5
5.) Splatoon

I think that’s all I’ve played?

For Giant Bomb fans, what do you think their GOTY is? PUBG, BotW, Destiny 2, or Odyssey?

 

Square & Ubi planning more Switch titles is good.

Still upset the Switch itself isn't going on sale this month tho ;-; i need more $$

 

I feel like, assuming PUBG ends up counting, it's Mario vs PUBG for #1 with Mario taking it - everyone seems to like it a whole lot and it's a complete, polished package versus some of their recent complaints about PUBG being less fun due to hackers, glitches, etc.

The lower ranks will be more interesting - how high does Alex/Ben/Jason push Nier with a lot of the staff so against its gameplay? Did the raid sour them on Destiny 2? BotW is an interesting case because some were head over heels, some weren't, still expect that fairly high. Cup head's fresh in their mind and another everyone seemed to enjoy on every level.

Always love their GOTY discussions, should be an especially good year with the sheer quantity of excellent titles.

 

Agree with everything you said. Best moment should be interesting as well, as it sounds like Brad thinks Wolf 2 should win all three of them.

 

I could see either PUBG, Mario or Wolfenstein. I'd have said PUBG for sure earlier on but they seem to be souring on it due to the cheating. Zelda will be on the list, but not enough love it for 1. Same with Nier, Cuphead and Destiny. That's my prediction.

 

They're all pretty much down on Wolfenstein's gameplay right off the bat which makes me think it doesn't make the #1 conversation, though it does probably get pretty high solely based on their love for the story/moments (aka Jeff and Brad's Nier)

Wolfenstein is the least likely of those three I think but it could be the compromise winner. I don't think they should choose that one, but I can imagine the scenario.
