I think they were attracted to his size and he had a good interception total, I believe. He's also a stand-up guy, which they have mentioned as a reason they were attracted to him.

I still see it as a reach, but how it fell, they may not have found a suitable corner until round 4, which was probably not acceptable with how they've addressed the position in the past. Spence (or a number of DTs, even though Hargrave was solid great 3rd round value) would have been a better value for the pick though.

I wouldn't have been mad if they took lunch over him but they really had no choice because of how badly they ignored the position.

Lynch wouldve been a horrible pick there haha

Why? The broncos took him one pick later and everyone loved that.

    The Broncos need a quarterback

Yep. Would have rioted if that happened. That said, we should have taken a QB in the 4th with what was around.

Yep. WJ3 in the 1st, Boyd in the 2nd is actually how several Steelers mocks were going. Then Billings in the 4th right before our pick...

Bengals basically drafted for maximizing the ability to screw the Steelers

And the Steelers will need one soon, I dont see what's so bad about that. Lunch needs time to sit and learn anyway. If its bad for ignoring an immediate need, alright I get that. Otherwise, I don't see what's so laughable about it.

I probably would have been ok with Lynch. But since the team thinks they have 3-5 more years with Ben they probably won't be looking to the future for another year or two.

Right, and that far out, there's no reason to be looking at a quarterback so early in the draft

Yea, reminds me of when they thought they had a few more years left of Bradshaw when he was getting injured every year so they didn't bother with Marino. Captain hindsight can be a fun guy.

There are always quarterbacks. It's not like Lynch was a can't miss prospect by any means

That's what I was thinking too, but it's awkward if you ask and you're wrong haha.

Roethlisberger is the starter through the 2018 season, bare minimum, based on his contract. Which means you put every dollar and pick into winning now. So, using a 1st rounder on a guy who, ideally, wont play until his 4th year...not a smart approach.

Its less immediate need and more "we missed on a few positions in the last several drafts"...and we need them desperately. So, who we took in Rounds 1-3, those are positions we had to fill to compete this year. Wasnt til Round 4 that we took a guy that wasnt needed (though you could argue keeping Mike Adams isnt a solution...so, OT was a need)

I mean, Ben is only 34...not like we're talking about a 39 year old here

Eh. Ben's only taken like 15-20 more sacks than Brady over his career.

He hasnt taken an ACL/MCL tear like Brady. Hasnt had major neck surgery like Manning. And hasnt had a major shoulder injury like Brees. Yet all those guys are playing til 37/38 at a high level.

The fact that you couldn't tell that is pathetic. Also, your evaluations on here are woefully uninformed and your football knowledge is pedestrian. Couch Coaches, more like Cockroaches, amiright?

Nah, theguy had me pegged. Nice to see you. Go Pack Go.

Sack numbers be damned, the eye test in how the two play says that Ben has taken considerably more punishment.

I hope he keeps playing though, because i genuinely enjoy watching him. In terms of quarterbacks I wanted the Packers to take to replace Brett Favre, he was the first and then Kyle Orton was the second.

It'll be interesting to see if he can stay off the PEDs and/or drugs between now and September.
