It's the TV you think? Can you do the same for the TV and see if the warranty is still valid?

 

I checked, it isn't anymore. I bought the tv pre-owned from Best Buy. Was returned because the owners were an older couple and didn't like the tablet remote, which I LOVE.


Apparently it's not the most uncommon issue that's come of 4K gaming consoles and 4K tv's, but the annoying part is that most of what I've found online about it is that developers just point fingers at each other about it. Seems like something that could be fixed with software, but idfk cause I don't build tv's and can only do so much with the PS safe mode.

 

Yooooooooo Nier Automata for 25 bucks. Was gonna buy myself that for Christmas but Christmas can go fuck itself now.

 

Nier Automata is so weird but also great.

Only game I think left to pick up for me this year is Assassin's Creed Origins, so hoping for a decent Gamestop sale so I can use up the remaining credit I have.

 

i haven't stepped out my front door for black friday in years. i work a desk job and everyone always requests the day off so i sit here and binge podcasts and refresh amazon. one of my favorite traditions tbh haha

 

Nier Automata is a top 10 game of all time for me

was talking about goty with some friends and although there's still another couple months, i've pretty much nailed down my top 10 of the year already i think

there's one slot at the end that's subject to change, as is the order of my 5-9, but i got my top 4 locked down.

 

And in video game news WB setup a label for Harry Potter games. First game is a mobile game by the Pokemon Go devs (so Pokemon Go with spells and HP creatures) but there will be console games on the label too.

I'm definitely with you on the last point a bit. I felt like it took entirely too long to get all endings. All these other points are all fair though. To me it wasn't there greatest horror/adventure game but I definitely enjoyed my time with it quite a bit.

in order: mario, zelda, trails in the sky the third, ys 8, nier, persona 5, pyre, night in the woods, yakuza 0, wolfenstein 2

wolf 2 is the only one i'm iffy on because i'm not sure if i'm still riding off the incredible high of the game's best moments. as mentioned, top 4 are 99% locked in, in that order, nier/persona keeps switching around in my mind, the other three are there but i don't know in what order.

 

I'd also put a word in for Dear Esther - its influence on walking sims shouldn't be underestimated. I'm still ok with the storytelling mechanic, even poorly implemented, because at least it's a start on putting experiential narratives forward as an important part of games. And, I would argue Tacoma still shows a lot of Fulbright's talents - certainly not at the level of GH, but there's a lot of heart, careful storytelling, and in particular interesting use of time flow as a mechanic. I wish it, and the game as a whole, had been more explored, but all the same I wouldn't call it a mishandling. But yeah, most writers unfortunately do not quite reach that level.

 

It's not the quality of the writing, it's the nerd setting that bothers me. I don't mean that in a pejorative way, I like nerd stuff (I use the term because it's easy as many people know what it means right away), but Gone Home was a breath of fresh air not only in terms of gameplay but also in terms of content, yet all it spawned was more nerd shit (just this time in the form of walking simulators rather than RPGs or whatever) in an industry that arguably needs less. Not sure if I'm making myself clear.

I really loved those, plus some games from past years I hadn't played before (Stardew and Trackmania).

Also, the Project Octopath Demo is awesome.

 

i totally forgot that splatoon came out this year, don't think it makes my top 10 even though i did have a blast

 

I loved a lot this year but my GOTY is Horizon easily

I've actually been keeping track this year, I'll post it at some point. Resident Evil 7 is still my favorite, which is crazy since it came out so early in the year and there have been so many good games this year.
