I love the music (drums especially) in Broken Lungs, but those bullshit 9/11 Truther lyrics make it pretty awkward to actually enjoy.

 

Except that CAYW isn’t just acoustic and is far more blues than either gospel or worship.

I'm surprised Lion and the Wolf got any votes against Messenger honestly.

 

I just read the annotations on Genius and I never knew that about the song. I always interpreted as a critique of what the US did and allowed ourselves to become (Islamophobia, Iraq war, Patriot Act, Gitmo, torture, etc.) post-9/11. That’s . . . embarrassing.

But I’m just going to pretend I never learned this and go on with my interpretation.

This was very difficult!

I listened to all 16 songs this morning just as a refresher. There's not one song that I dislike and that makes the decisions much tougher!

I tend to favor the heavier side of Thrice and I guess that's evident with me picking all 3 Fire songs that were part of this round.

The one song that it really pained me to vote against was Digging My Own Grave.

That 4 year stretch spanning from Vheissu through Beggars is just incredible!

 

Yeah I love the song, but from the TAI notes on the vinyl I saw that song and cringed a little bit. I just don't think about it when I listen haha.

Trying to choose between the Arsonist and Digital Sea was impossible. Same with The Sky is Falling vs Digging my Own Grave. The truther lyrics ruin the sky is falling for me though. Moving Mountains vs the Whaler was tough too. The rest were pretty easy choices.

I really hope Silver Wings wins at least a round. It's so underrated.

Silver Wings is my least favorite of the sonnets by a wide margin. :x

 

My favorite discs are Fire, Earth, Water and then Air.

Favorite sonnets are Child of Dust, Kings Upon the Main, The Flame Deluge and then Silver Wings.

There's no way Silver Wing is coming back.

 

Same, its such a nice relaxing song with a great vibe.

I did get to see Sky live though and it translated really well (except for the clapping parts before the chorus, each time it came up the crowd failed horribly lol)

 

Crowds can never clap in time, it’s fact haha.

 

Dustin even calls out the crowd for this on the Anthology live album.
