Looks like Kyle Martino WILL be running for the US Soccer President position. He's one of my favorite personalities in the sport, is super knowledgeable about both the state of soccer as a whole in America as well as the state of the program itself......and isn't an absolute douche like Wynalda.

Really hope he can get support.

    And are you kidding me?

MLS scheduled our home playoff game for 9pm local time....on a Tuesday. What the fuck is going on?

PEOPLE HAVE SCHOOL AND JOBS WHY DO YOU THINK A GAME THAT ENDS AT MIDNIGHT IS OKAY

Can't wait for West Ham to finish 17th and Moyes be viewed as a hero.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

Given how much the West Ham fans disliked Allardyce, I can only see this going well.

  13. Winks, Kane, Dele, Toby all injured in the last week. Ugh.

I was really looking forward to seeing Winks playing for the national team again. You guys can call me crazy but that guy will play a big role in the WC for England.

  14. I’d also like to see Dier moved to CB and England try out a 3-4-3 type system.

    Cahill - Dier - Stones
    Walker - Winks - Henderson - Rose
    Sterling - Kane - Dele

Can only see England succeeding with a back four imo, gotta have wingers with fullbacks overlapping (plus Dele behind Kane too) as our strengths are in the wider areas:

    Butland
    Walker-Stones-Cahill-Rose
    Dier-Henderson
    Sterling-Dele-Rashford
    Kane

Still not a line-up anyone will be threatened by unless we actually instil our players with a shred of confidence/belief in themselves.

I can't be the only one that thinks Henderson should not be starting for England. When was the last time he put in a great performance for the national side?

Yeah, swap Henderson for Winks and I think that could work. I'm not convinced at all that 3 at the back is the formation for England. We'd be playing people out of position just to show horn it, and have no creativity at the same time. I know it's trendy at the minute, but none of our players are really tailored to that formation. Better off playing to our strengths.

I honestly cannot think of an adequate replacement for Henderson though. I've put him ahead of Winks purely on experience and maybe defensive ability (the sort that comes with experience, not that Henderson is naturally that good defensively). Winks bench for sure though.
In the future I can think of maybe RLC or Chalobah should they continue to progress now that they are getting to actually play football, but now I can't think of anyone.

I don't think Henderson is good enough to not just warrant blooding in a youngster instead. The other lads might be slightly below him now, but might as well start blooding them in now when we have basically zero expectation, build for the future and that.

  20. Why wouldn’t a 3 back system work? Most of those guys are in similar systems at their club team.

It could work, but from what we've seen of it so far it just wasn't very good (Lithuania game, ughhh) and imo puts too much pressure on Harry Kane to score AND create. 4-2-3-1 has an extra man in attack to help creatively, and I'd rather have a combo of, say, Sterling, Dele, Lallana and Rashford behind Kane rather than sacrifice one of them for a defender (plus strong players like Walker & Rose are doing almost the same job in either formation anyway, they just have to pick their attacking moments more wisely in a 4). Hey, i'm no expert though.

Nashville's MLS bid just got a huge boost last night with the stadium funding being settled and SSS being guaranteed. Combined with the big infrastructure revitalization and expansion they just passed, construction in downtown Nashville will be stupid for the next decade if MLS gives them the go ahead to add the stadium to it.

Neymar reportedly "unmotivated" at PSG lmao, saying he cba with league games against lower opposition & that's why he skipped their match against Angers in favour of staying fit for Brazil. If true, Imagine spending 200million on a guy like that :crylaugh::crylaugh::crylaugh:

    Sam

This would give you a local MLS team, amirite?

I read the story this morning while half asleep, did it say most of the stadium funding was going to be private? Or am I miles off

"Local," yeah. Atlanta and Nashville are about equi-distant from me. It'd be three hours to either stadium, give or take. Atlanta is fun as hell to watch with Almiron, etc., but I'd probably support Nashville (still mad about the AC Milan rip-off color/kit scheme, haha).

I think $225m is private and $25m is public.
