I'm not as into that one as The Outfield but I loved that song and I'm very interested in hearing an album.

  2. Just put this on, it's been too long! Is it weird to feel severe nostalgia for this when it hasn't even been around for two years yet? Hah

I think I'll need to take a break from it before I feel nostalgia but it takes me to a place or two.

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

    This album is still perfect.

I personally would make the voice samples in the title track slightly quieter, so I can't say it's perfect.

    Jk it's perfect

I definitely get nostalgia from this but my life has changed a lot in the past year so I chalk it up to that. Like how albums you listened to as a teen are extra nostalgic cause everything moved so fast back then.

Idk it's weird. I love these guys and the album from a sonic perspective but I've never really been moved or emotionally attached to many of their songs. Maybe a few of the moodier ep songs, but the last record was just straight surface level pop to me.

    That's an odd take.

yes the song about his dead grandmother and the one about his mother's depression and substance abuse were surface level pop, etc.

This band makes me very emotional.

This album still cuts deep for me. Very far from "surface level pop."

Title track, Lostmyhead and Please Be Naked especially might as well be Katy Perry tunes

I really don't understand why pop music can't be emotional.

It's not that odd of a take. I'm not arguing it can't be emotionally substantive for others - I'm just saying my experience with the album is not a weighty one.

Certainly songs about his mum and grandmother are personal to him - but they don't strike a great emotional chord for me. I think Nana is a close exception to the general take, though.

That's not the odd part. It's the saying that it's surface level pop

I guess I just mean to say the record doesn't serve that carthatic purpose for me - and I didnt particularly expect it to. It's not what I need from this band.

"it doesnt strike an emotional chord for me" and "its surface level pop" are two different statements that you jammed into one post, one of them is off the mark.

I just mean it more in the sense that it's mindless fun to me. I like to dance to it, rock out to it in my car, etc. They make great pop music - better than anyone else I listen to - but I meant surface level in a sense the songs don't go any deeper than the sonic pleasure they provide me.

Tbh you're a monster if the title track and closing 2 songs don't seem emotional to you

It's hard to explain. They are emotional songs without question...they just don't evoke much in me. I think Me and You and Antichrist are all songs that hit me pretty hard...just didn't get much of that from this album in particular.

I can't remember the last time music actually made me feel emotional/tear up but I think I'm broken
