Quick reply on the forums doesn’t quite scroll far enough down. Gonna have to take a look into that. That’s the only big bug I’ve seen (minus the landscape letterboxing).

 

The X seems to be in stock everywhere in the US but no where to be seen in Ireland.

 

Played with the X a little at the mall and it was so damn cool

 

I love the feel out of a case. It feels so premium and has a great hand feel.

 

I feel like I am getting the 256 because the accounting/finance person in me can’t get past the fact the 256 is a better value. And it would motivate me to use the photo and video capabilities more.

 

Seems the biggest issue I’ve seen raised for people going from the Plus is screen width and its impact on keyboard and landscape features (Safari tabs etc). I have tiny hands and keep my phone locked in portrait mode so hoping the adjustment won’t be too jarring for me.

On the Australian tech site Whirlpool upwards of 40% of users who bought the X have said they’re returning the phone and sticking with a 7 Plus or going to the 8 Plus, but I think that’s more an “oh my god I just spent $1800 on a impulse buy when my phone is in perfect order” thing than a criticism of how the X performs. I’ve seen a real disparity in satisfaction between Aus X buyers and US buyers (the latter being way more satisfied) and I wonder if it’s because we don’t have the Apple upgrade program so having to pull out an extra $200 for a phone at point of sale feels a lot rougher (and harder to justify) than having the increase gradually flow through your repayments over time.

Had a go on the X yesterday in the Apple Store. The thing that got me straight away was how gorgeous the screen display was. Holy hell did it make going back to my 6s hard whilst I wait impatiently for my X to arrive. Having played around with the lack of home button I can already tell it will come second natural to me. I had no problems with the 5 minute demo.

 

TrueTone is pretty awesome. Doesn’t look like a traditional display, looks more like a painted on picture.

 

I saw some people complain that the colors didn't look as sharp as Samsung phones. I think it's a good thing because the colors on those phones are oversaturated.

I completely agree.

For anyone wondering about the price tag, me and my gf came away and I said it definitely felt like a 1000 pound phone. The build quality felt insane but at the same time you would think that for the money. As you can all probably tell I’m very eager to get my hands on mine!

 

Yesterday I saw an early 90’s ad for a VHS Camcorder that was on sale at the time for $788. That alone justifies the price tag of the X for me.

 

Haha crazy to think the video and camera side is just one feature of a phone compared to that being the stand alone feature. Insane how technology progresses!

 

Right. So I’ll call bullshit if people tell me I paid too much for my phone. Just look at the price of this one.
