Opinion: The Last of Us Part 2's Trailer Misses the Point - IGN

Have you guys read or watched this? I think Polygon had a write up about the trailer a few days ago with similar points.

For me I find this dude is overreacting and complaining just to complain. The Last of Us is a brutal game. The first game was violent and the atmosphere and story were made stronger by the ruthlessness of everyone you meet. The clickers, hunters, David and his clan, and even the Fireflies. It's all life or death. This guy is complaining about the corpses being hung at the beginning but this is something that has been in games for decades. A knife across the woman's (Anna?) stomach is too far? Seriously? And he kept mentioning that it was violence against women, like this is a misogynistic game. No, it shows that women play a very strong role in this game and looking at how buff and it control the main character (Anna?) is, it's more of a pro-woman ad than what these guys are protesting.

He also added that the Last of Us isn't "fun" to play. Really? I absolutely LOVE playing this game and it's not just all about story and atmosphere. I enjoy the gameplay. Smashing a fool across the head with a 2-by-4 is fun. Haha, does this make me sadistic?

I see what he's talking about as this is what they are selling, violence. But the first trailer was about sadness and loss, this one about the brutal environment the game takes place in. Anyways, I think this dude is garbage and needs to shut up. Wish I could tell him in person.

Wolfenstein II is such a ball breaker, on one part right now that has frustrated me to the point of getting a headache.

What an idiot of an article. The lack of context is the entire point of the trailer. It’s showing us a side of the TLOU universe (TLOUniverse, if you will) heretofore unknown. It perhaps suggests the state of things has deteriorated quite substantially and it’s leaving us to ponder why. Or maybe it’s giving us a taste of what Ellie may encounter. Dramatic irony etc. It creates mystery and intrigue precisely because there’s zero context.

But when a person writes something this dimwitted...

...I can only assume they’re actively trying to miss the point. Like if those are truly the only 2 options you can fathom, then you’re helplessly stupid.

Haven't read the piece, did not see the trailer, but this is always a safe assumption about those kind of pieces lmao

The first 10 original Xbox games are now on backwards compatible for Xbox One and it is a decent first batch of games.

I am constantly surprised at how much I care about the protagonist of a Wolfenstein game. I think I'm nearing the end, probably, there's some real INSANE shit that goes on.

Thanks to reading all of the comments in this forum I decided to buy Wolfenstein. Even though I have: Mario, Shadow of Mordor and of course tons of hours plugged into FIFA and NBA2k. I just finished Cuphead (amazing game) and I have come to the realization that I'm addicted to video games.

I've been looking over reviews all day and these are the only ones worth your time. It's embarrassing how bad some others are compared to these.

I started The New Order last week, haven't been moving very quickly. Never played a Wolfenstein game before this one so I underestimated the character continuity/references that have been popping up. Game is mostly pretty fun though.

New Order kinda takes things from previous Wolfenstein games but is essentially it's own series (New Order/Old Blood/New Colossus) with a mostly new set of characters -Deathshead is an older series villain and obviously BJ is the classic series protagonist but other than that, you're not missing anything by not playing the older games (and BJ in particular has way, way more depth in this series than he ever did before).

I have the New Order in my backlog still. I need to get around to it. Xenoblade is taking much longer than I anticipated haha

Enjoying Wolfenstein II so much, yes it has gotten me frustrated and challenged me but the story/characters are what keep me coming back which if they weren't so engrossing I would be less inclined to do so. Seems to be longer than the previous game as I have played for more than 10 hours now and doesn't seem to be near the end.

New Order's gameplay did not grab me long enough to finish the game. Is it about the same in that regard? If so I might end up picking it up in a deep sale.

I don't want to get into spoilers but part way through there is a change. Not a massive one mind but it mixes it up a bit.

Hopefully I made a good choice. I'm not a single player gamer, so there's not many games that grab me enough for me to wanna finish them.

Man, I have $250 roughly in giftcards for payal/amazon and am VERY tempted to get an X for "half-price".

My wife will be the sane one in this for sure...
