  1. I don't mind treadmills, at all. However, they get boring so I need a tv.

I don't mind treadmill running either; I'm a 5K runner, so it's a great way to work on improving my speed in an easy way

I'll be running the Chicago Marathon in October. Very excited for that, very not excited to begin the formal training program mid-June.

Think I might do a triathlon this June; only difference with the one I'm looking at is that instead of swimming, the person kayaks/canoes instead. So two friends and I will be doing it, with me doing the biking leg

  5. I don't like running in the colder weather but that's because I don't have the appropriate gear for it. I should probably buy some stuff since its New England and usually cold or chilly.

Did 4 miles yesterday at my local running club instead of the usual 5, as I have a 1-mile race next week Thursday, so I tried running at a quicker pace for the 4 miles. Going to taper down my miles and increase my speed over the next week, to hopefully help improve my speed. Aiming to go under 7 minutes

i haven't been out on a good all out run in about a month. i'm doing a corporate 5k at the beginning of june so hopefully the shin splints will subside enough to let me do it.

    felt really good

    It's a great experience.

I'm not too big on running for time, but I am pretty pleased I handled a 5 miler yesterday in just over 46 minutes. Have a 7 mile run sometime this weekend, so that'll be a challenge.

Did a 5 mile run with my running club tonight; man I'm beat. I essentially tried going as fast as I could the whole time, what my body would allow.

did a 5 mile trail run with 700 ft incline. i am beat.

sidenote - i dont know what it is but waking up hungover/still slightly drunk produces some of my best runs. must have something to do with being numb to the pain but i've set plenty of prs with the bangover

i'm writing a book, leave me alone.

Last two days have been perfect running weather. A nice 6 miles yesterday after a half day of work and was able to get in 3 today between a bunch of other stuff. I'll never get over the curiosity of approaching cars though (i usually run on the gravel paths next to roads near my house). Some cars swerve way over into the oncoming lane, others stay where they are, riding the white line, maybe not even seeing me / others on the side. Some wave, some honk (if I have my head down), some do nothing. Like i said, always curious about when a car approaches what they'll do.

Also, I need new shoes. My current Brooks' are done.

Are they the moon boot looking shoes? I made fun of people who got them while deployed cause they looked so goofy.

yes. on my most recent shoe purchase i came down to those vs my brooks launch's. the altras were way more comfortable but i couldn't get over the cosmetic aspect

that being said i think im gonna give em a go next time i buy a pair

So I'm moving to Miami at the end of the month and looking to spend some time running on the beach. Anyone have any opinions on running on sand in shoes or sans shoes?

I've done a few general trail trains, with not nearly as much elevation gain/decline, but yeah I for sure felt it after each time. Just signed up for two 10k trail run races this Summer myself, my first ones. I recently got some sweet Salomon trail running shoes, so really excited to start using them

Also, did a 6:15 in my 1-mile race in Minneapolis yesterday; really stoked about that. 3 years ago in the event I did a 7:40, so huge improvement. Coming from a 100m/200m background, and now having transitioned to 5k's, pretty happy with the time. Hoping to go under 6 by July

Not in the traditional sense, where one person does everything, duh; it's a relay essentially

Top guys at our 1 mile race yesterday did a 3:55 and 3:58; insane. Right after the 1/2 mile the road went sort of downhill for 200 feet or so, but still, crazy times. Top female did a 4:34

i'm writing a book, leave me alone.

Ran at the gym today and focused on my style and how I run. Over the last few years I've focused on running on my toes and front of my foot more than being flatfooted. I've also noticed that I tend to put more pressure on my left leg but at the end of each run both feet hurt equally. I don't know if one leg is slightly shorted or what but I've known for a long time I always tend to lean, never stand straight up and now I notice it while running so I tried to even that out (if possible).

I also tried changing up my stride length. Anyone else do / try this? I don't know if it takes more energy or not but it seemed to allow to sustain the same speed for longer than if I did standard strides, although it's probably a bit more force on my feet / legs since I'm in the air longer.

I've never been a long distance guy, but my wife runs marathons and I promised I'd run the pittsburgh half-marathon with her next year. I'm up to 5-6 miles, but I have a question. If I eat anything within 2 hours before my run, I feel like shit. But if I don't eat, I crash and have zero energy after 2-3 miles. What do you guys suggest?
