my vote: Stardew Valley!

 

I had similar concerns about Stardew and now it's my second most played game on Switch at 100 hours. There's A LOT to do but the game has this wonderful way of only being as complicated as you make it. That's sort of the magic of it.

That said, those are all great games. Shovel Knight is a modern classic. Even the extra campaigns are stellar games in their own right. Get it if you haven't played it. Even if you don't get it now, get it at some point.

Golf Story is probably my next favorite on that list. Sonic Mania may be the the definitive classic sonic game if you like those. Cave Story is great but it's a little pricier and probably my least favorite of those you listed.

 

Thanks everybody! I think I'm actually gonna go with Golf Story and SDV. I'll be getting all of 'em at some point, but Shovel Knight sounds like it will be p difficult and I am a pretty rusty gamer so probably gonna go with the two that have a more "relaxed" pace as I get re-acquainted

 

I know it's basically just a meme at this point, but I actually wish the new Bubsy game was coming to the Switch. The SNES games were pretty awful but super nostalgic for me at the same time so I'll probably end up buying the new one on PS4 just for the laughs.

 

SDV update: Finally got deep enough and started mining diamonds and gold ore, though not sure what to do with the former. Also hit 10 hearts with Leah, Emily, and Abigail.

 

I don't like the mines, combat is bad imo

Today I finally dive into Mario and I'm ecstatic

 

almost winter in SDV. I'm going to take the time to get as many damn sprinklers as I can to prep for spring, I want that home automation life.

 

Pretty much. Did the 10-heart events and have the pendant, just need to settle on one of them, haha. Emily's event was the most amusing.

 

Yeah, it's not the best. I mostly just mine what I need and run away from enemies.

Super Mario Odyssey is the fastest-selling Mario game in the U.S.

 

On a side note, s/o wants to spend our day off playing together. Any other great games for local multi besides Overcooked (100% buying) and Arms (which I do not want)

We've already played Mario Kart to death on the U and can't justify 80 bucks on a game I have recently owned right now. Totally forgot about Snipperclips tho, exactly what I was looking for

 

Overcooked is a blast though I'm terrible at it. Puyo Puyo Tetris is insanely fun, we have been playing for an hour and it's so intense

 

The new Harmonix game looks fun. There is a demo on the eShop. Forgot the title but it has Beat in there.

If my SO and I weren’t so busy with Mario I would probably have picked it up
