Completely agree, really hard to choose between that, The Arsonist and Firebreather for me.

 

I loooove Burn the Fleet. So good.

 

I absolutely love that song. I'm not sure why they don't play it more. In the Alchemy Index notes on the Vinyl they say how much they love that song and it is one of the stand outs on the Live at the House of Blues release.

 

Those are the same 3 songs I was tossing up between.

I'm also glad that so many people are into Night Diving because someone was ragging on it either earlier in this thread or back on AP. I adore that song though.

 

Burn The Fleet is one of my least favorite songs of all of TAI.

Even after knowing what the song is about?

Man such great imagery, burning your fleet so you are forced to win the war or be defeated there is no returning to the sea

 

Yeah, that doesn't make it any better for me. I don't like the timing/delivery of the chorus at all.

 

I still have to check out Dustin's newest solo record so I have some catching up to do before the new album.

I love Burn the Fleet :( really Fire/Water makes a good case for my favorite Thrice album, even over Beggars

 

Yeah Fire/Water is right behind Beggars for me personally.

 

The Alchemy Index as a whole is behind Beggars for me, but if you split TAI up by how it was released I'd go with Fire/Water behind Beggars in a heartbeat. Firebreather, The Arsonist, Burn The Fleet, Digital Sea, Lost Continent, Night Diving, and The Whaler are all great songs. Backdraft is the only song I feel indifferent towards on Fire/Water.

Air/Earth would then fall behind Vheissu from there. I love the Air EP, specifically Broken Lungs, A Song For Milly Michaelson, and Daedalus, but I haven't really gotten into the Earth EP. It's good though.

I think these would be my choices as well. Hurts to cut Burn the Fleet, Digital Sea, and Broken Wings, but it's hard to compete with the epic ending of Firebreather, and the vocal outro in Night Diving is one of my favorite pieces of music.

Edit: just realized I confused Night Diving with The Whaler. So, The Whaler would be my choice from Water, haha.
