Patriots fans are handling this with the the cool, calm collected head we are universally known for having....

How many rings does Bill need to win before people trust him a bit.

Pretty sure the Pats are going to sign the now released Hoyer as the backup. Should’ve just included him in the trade.

Maybe the pats just go wildcat and don't sign a backup qb

If they sign him as a free agent it's cheaper on the cap. Probably why he wasn't in the trade if they do sign him.

Jamie Collins last year, Akeem Ayers and Johnathon Castillas the year before, Aqib Talib in there too and then now Jimmy G. Bill Belichick is doing his best to make the Trade Deadline fun.

Why pay Hoyer $7mil in cap space? Or whatever is left...when you can have him for vet min

True, but can’t they work out a trade in which SF pays most of his contract? It’s just a one-year deal.

lots of questions about the Jimmy G thing...

    does he play this year?
how soon does he play / learn the playbook?
wouldn't playing him likely result in some wins and hurt your draft stock for a top 5 pick?
when / how do you resign him? based on what?
guess Shanahan and Kirk aren't friends anymore? or Shanahan knows something we all don't (about Kirk)?

This is also the exact opposite of what I just argued for...49ers have a high pick next year, could have taken a young, cheap QB. Now they have to pay Jimmy minimum $21mil next year to franchise him, or sign him to a Osweiler-ish long-term deal, on an unknown.

Lynch isn't as great as that one trade indicated haha

  18. If Ben retires I don't know if I want them to play Dobbs and win 4 games or sign Kirk for a few years

Probably rather take that Kirk money and pay bell I guess

Eh, id call this certainty v uncertainty. They now know their QB for, presumably, at least the next 2 years. Whereas Kirk, on the free agent market, who knows. Hell, with that Skins o-line, who says he makes it to 2018 with both ACLs

also you take age into consideration, Jimmy G is 25 and kirk is 29.

The steelers aren't known to give out deals like that, especially to qbs. They probably have to just have a down year following his retirement or take one and tell him to stay a year or so to teach the guy
