Finally got around to listening to this in full. Very beautiful, but it's clear that I need to give it another go sometime when I can actually sit down and focus on the music/lyrics.

Was rainy and foggy a couple days ago here so I threw this on while driving to the store 5 minutes away from my apartment. Ended up driving around for almost an hour so I could listen to this album more

  6. So, this album took a little while to grow on me. Listened to it again today to see if I felt differently, and I'm finally into it. This album is a stunning piece of art. Phoebe has a really gorgeous, effortless-sounding voice. The music is like a comfy warm jumper, very soothing and minimal and fits in perfectly with Melbourne's dreary weather this week. I needed to hear Stranger In The Alps this week, I've been very scattered and unsettled for a while and I was actually present while I was listening. Her words comfort me, particularly when she sings "Jesus Christ, I'm so blue all the time / and that's just how I feel / always have and I always will" seriously... how many times have I told myself similar things? Motion Sickness, Funeral and Scott Street are the biggest stand outs for me right now, and I'm sure I'll change my mind, which is exciting. I'm relieved I didn't give up on her and let myself focus and feel her music. Plus, she's only three years older than me. It's empowering watching young women gain more and more success, especially with music as beautiful and important as this.

Holy shit, how did I sleep on this album for so long. I’m sitting in an airport right now trying not to cry in public.

I still can’t get over Funeral.

The way it begins with her realization the kid who died is nearly her age and death will take anyone, then goes on a journey into her own self loathing and depressive emotions which stemmed from that, to only come back and feel guilty “someone’s kid is dead.”

    Wow. A massively emotional song.

First time I heard the “someone’s kid is dead” line, it was like a jaw-dropping moment. Kinda felt like a punch to the gut or something lol.

Kinda sad the UK run of shows is over, been such a fun time and she is the best. This record is joint first this year for sure, seriously incredible and emphasised by seeing her perform live a few times. Also massive shout outs to Harrison, his guitar tone is killer and his skills are such too.
