I saw blink open with Family Reunion in 2004, that was decent. It always felt like a comedown after Dammit at the end though.

I think Feeling This is pretty much the opener at this point (or at least, it should be)... however, maybe with the new album they'll want to open with that album opener because it's aggressive and they enjoy it.

It's the same thing you've been saying in this thread. "They lack the credibility and integrity of actual pop-punk bands." That doesn't even mean anything... that's just a way of saying "I don't like them and I'm gonna make my opinion sound like objective fact without saying anything at all". This is just peppered with "real" and "actual", which is incredibly arbitrary.

Ultimately, this doesn't seem to have much point at all other than needlessly shitting on a band in response to an article about them that they didn't write, and doesn't address the cyclic nature of the points you're attempting to make.

Haha sorry man. I'm not a fan of the lyrics. The whole going boating thing seems kind of lame to me.

  9. I feel like Dammit needs to make its way back in to the middle of the set. Weird opinion but I'm ready for a new closer.

Wendy Clear is one of my favorites. Would love to hear that and Apple Shampoo on this tour.

What would you pick as a closer instead?

I would honestly like them to just switch up some of the hits as closers or just switch what they close with each night in general. I am just kind of done with certain songs being the closer every time. That goes for any larger band, not just Blink.

  13. The album comes out before the tour begins right? If so, I hope we see a good chunk of new songs in the set. I hope Matt pushes Mark and Travis to do that. Mark seems pretty comfortable playing the hits. But I'd love to see at least 4 or 5 new songs on there, assuming the album is good haha. Otherwise, zero new songs would be great. Haha

Credibility and integrity do and SHOULD mean a lot in the bands you like.
And the cyclical nature is explained in there (that was a major point in it).
And it was a column and an opinion piece, which reflects my opinion. If you want to disagree with everything I say, that is fine, but I don't see any real counter arguments other than your issues with my diction ( choice of words) and overall stance on these bands in the first place.

And nothing from DED and Neighborhoods. There are some songs I like there, but there are more new songs and songs cut from the set over the years that I would like to see brought back.

  16. I guess it's actually pretty hard to say haha

Yeah, album is out a few weeks before the tour. Have to think they'll do at least 4 new ones.

Josie or Carousel would be good ones.

  19. I would actually be down with them opening with Dumpweed and closing with Feeling This

There aren't that many really bad blink songs in my opinion (Fighting the Gravity, Love Is Dangerous). But there are a few that I am absolutely tired of hearing because of the amount of times I exposed myself to them over the years (First Date, All the Small Things, Anthem Part Two, Aliens Exist...).

I don't have access to setlist.fm right now to check, but what's a reasonable number of songs to expect in their set? I will try and come up with a set I would enjoy that is somewhat realistic.

This was the last set they played. Given that Mark is adamant about not playing more than 90 minutes, here's the challenge: Which four or five of these songs get cut for new ones?

    Feeling This
    What's My Age Again?
    The Rock Show
    Up All Night
    Going Away to College
    Down
    I Miss You
    Happy Holidays, You Bastard
    Dumpweed
    Wendy Clear
    Always
    Don't Leave Me
    Easy Target
    First Date
    Dysentery Gary
    All the Small Things
    Man Overboard
    Reckless Abandon
    Carousel
    -----
    Violence
    Dammit
    Family Reunion

But those words don't mean anything. They're buzz words used to mean that you think they don't do things the "right" way.

And my point about the cyclical nature isn't in relation to your paragraph, when you talk about pop-punk being in the mainstream, but rather that it's easy to imagine a very similar article being written about Blink (or Green Day, or The Offspring, or whatever example you want to use) when they first emerged. Going back, this kind of shit has been spewed at so many bands that end up being well respected. It happened to Fall Out Boy and Good Charlotte, it happened to Blink; hell, Green Day were called sellouts and not "true punk" all over the place when Dookie released. And it's not just in pop-punk either. This exact thing happens in every single genre of music, and more broadly, in every form of art period.
