  1. Stepping in to say that I'm really not a serious fan of any of the bands opening. I am going out for dinner and drinks before the show and hopefully showing up about half-way through ADTR's set to prep for Blink insanity.

Cum for the Cum God. Prestigious

All this squabbling about who they should tour with is stupid because we all know what the real answer is: the Kilimanjaro Dark Jazz Ensemble.

Don't act like that wouldn't be perfect.

I'd rather see ATL than Blink anyway, ha.

    Things have changed.

It could always be worse: Asher Roth could be opening again.

I will go and watch all three bands perform. I have never seen the Rejects or ADTR. I am just a fan of live music so I am interested in hearing how they sound and seeing the performance firsthand. Blink is what I am going for, but it's cool to see some other notable bands get the crowd going. I know enough songs by ADTR and the Rejects that I won't be completely out of my element.

I don't think the majority of older, real blink fans see the appeal with ADTR and ATL. Some younger ones, yes...

"Real" fans – you keep throwing out these words that invalidate everyone else. I am a Blink fan since 1999, now nearly 30, and I love every single of the openers. So...

I think that's the point though. The older Blink fans that are lifers will go regardless of who the openers are. The younger fans may be on the fence, but one or some of these bands put them over the top.

I'm not too big on any of the openers, either. Was hoping for AAR instead of ATL, but it's not a big deal to me. I'll just take my time getting to my seats. Tailgate in the parking lot, check out merch, grab another beer inside...

I'm in a similar boat - I clearly know some AAR hits so I don't think it'll be super boring - I've seen ADTR with NFG numerous times and at Warped, they put on a fun show and are entertaining - its live music and it could certainly be some acts that are MUCH worse...just remember you're sitting through it all to let Mark Travis and Matt blow off your fucking eardrums.

People get worked up over silly things. Don't like the opening bands? Show up late.

Not throwing shade, just saying I don't think these bands appeal to all blink fans, just the newer ones.

ADTR is definitely "in with the kids". Each of their last 3 albums, dating back to their breakout album have all had very similar chart positions, with the most recent one done as a self released record without label backed promotions. I would say that A Day To Remember is bigger now than they ever have been. Right Back At It Again was the lead single from the current record and I heard that all the time on the local rock radio station... they sell out venues, I think they're very relevant.

ATL isn't quite as relevant anymore but I think they kind of have the type of fanbase that really sticks with them regardless of where they're at, continues to go to their shows, continues to enjoy them... and I think they're perfect for a blink tour because people that go to blink shows generally know at least some of ATL's stuff.

AAR is the wildcard of the bunch. In some senses, they may have been the biggest of the openers in terms of billboard chart success in the past, but they've been gone for a while - much like blink has. I don't know much about their fanbase - has it dried up as the band has kind of lost relevance, were they just fans of Dirty Little Secret and Move Along, or do they have a ton of hardcore fans? I don't know. I know that people were excited about the Move Along album repress for RSD this year, but I don't know a whole lot more about their fanbase.

Please stop saying "real", it's insufferable. Plenty of people I know grew up on blink and also enjoy both of those bands

    Good point.
I think these shows sell well regardless of who is opening on blink's name alone.

You are totally throwing shade. And you keep tossing around how long YOU'VE been a fan as a way to invalidate everyone else's opinions. Maybe it's just time to sit this one out.

  20. Seriously, stop it with this shit. Young fans are real fans. We should be welcoming younger fans into this community, not ostracizing them.

I'm 19, blink is the band that got me into music. Am I not real because Cheshire Cat is older than I am?
