Damn, score of the century.

 

Agree with the other points, but I LOVED the use of music in this game.

Link wakes up in a ruined world and it's tinged with sadness and regret. The piano music is so perfectly melancholic. I love that it relents to "the wild" ambiance and returns to more traditional Zelda tunes mostly when you're in towns and specific areas. The old Zelda themes are kind of buried, much like Hyrule. That Dragon Roost Island theme on piano in Rito Village... just perfect. The subtle shifts between the overworld areas, or in the event of encroaching danger, or when a stable or Kass are nearby. Just great touches that make the music feel like part of the world. The shifts in song between night and day are beautiful as well. And while it's often restrained, the soundtrack is loaded with great music. Korok Woods, Hyrule Castle, Tarrey Town come to mind. The last being one of the best ever uses of music in a Zelda game.

A heroic orchestral theme playing on a loop while running around the overworld would've been very strange.

Strange and straight up fucking terrible

Pre ordered at Gamestop, finally picked up a case for my switch and the Zelda BoTW amiibo as a surprise for my GF.

 

I've got it pre ordered from Best buy. I have GCU so 20% off, plus an additional $10 reward certificate and a cool little Mario coin. Seemed like the no brainer place to order from.

 

Hmm so pretty much everywhere is raving about this game and giving it perfect scores. Fine, I'll buy it... Spoiler: I was going to buy it anyway

 

Amazon still saying it'll be here tomorrow by 8 but hasn't shipped yet. Ugh.

I'm saying of course everyone (except @CobraKidJon ) will say yes. It's an amazing piece of tech with quite an impressive lineup only 7 months out, you won't have anyone tell you no.

 

oh my god those scores. I can't believe I'll be playing Mario in roughly 11 hours.

Mario is preloaded on my Switch and the wait is starting to kill me

 

With games like this, I kind of stay away from trailers and all that because I will obsess over things and get myself hyped up. For that reason, I somehow missed that this game has the 8-bit parts of the game. haha.

I can't waaaait to check this out. My girlfriend was just talking about wanting to play some Mario the other day so maybe we'll give the co-op a go.

 

Yes, with my Joycon when playing on the TV, but not enough to replace them. I use it in handheld mode 95% of the time, so I don't worry about it.

 

I can't play Mario until Monday and it makes me wanna cry.
