I’d keep Zelda I have way more of a personal connection to that series than Mario.

That being said it’s still a rough choice to make haha

 

Mine would probably be Doom.

 

A resounding "YES!" from me.

With Mario Odyssey around the corner, looking like it could dethrone BOTW in the same year, it's a no brainer if you have the funds.

 

It really just comes down to convincing my wife to let me buy it

Haha she isn’t too into video games. And she is VERRRRY frugal. So I somehow have to convince her spending $400 on a video game is a good idea haha.

I haven’t played it so this makes me even more excited. I watched 1 boss fight from youtube before and it looks insane in the best possible way. I just can’t imagine evading and doing boss-fight patterns in first person but somehow this game makes it look fun.

Just saw ACPC is already out in Aus/NZ??

 

It's a pretty common thing for mobile games - have a soft launch in a few territories (always Australia, for whatever reason) to test issues before it launches fully a few weeks later.

 

Makes sense. I’m just jealous haha it looks so good

 

my co-worker just told me of three stores, all very close to me, that are known to break street dates...

 

I really, really, really, really hope that this mobile Animal Crossing game doesn't in any way deter us from getting one for the Switch.

I hardly ever played Zelda games, so I had virtually no bias and this one blew me away. Seriously, it's beautiful, it's satisfying to figure out the puzzles and there are so many things to find/learn, you don't want to get to the end. This is one of the only games I've felt that way about. When I realized I was coming down to the end of the main mission and hit a wall with finding the shrines, I started to get really sad.

That said, I have always loved Mario so grabbing Odyssey this weekend is going to be great.

 

BotW destroyed my opinion on a lot of other open world games. I played the Witcher 3 DLC after BotW and oh boy it was hard to go back to dealing with all the restrictions.

 

The Witcher 3 is a great complimentary experience to BoTW because I think it actually does a lot of stuff much better. Better plot, better sidequests, more interesting combat, you can always call your horse.

 

I hated the combat in Witcher 3.

I've had the same issues with open world games though, tried to play Horizon just after Zelda and still haven't finished it.

 

I know I’m in the minority but I think a lot of the shine of BOTW came off for me. I still liked it a lot, and I do think it does a lot of incredible stuff for an open world game, but the dungeon design still bummed me out, along with some of how the story was played out.

 

I have those same issues but it's still one of the best games ever made and pretty much unrivaled in a number of areas.
