Best SOTY riff? Outro of "The Ghost Of You And I" is a top 5.

 

Yes! That song is so fun to play. Main riff of "Our Time is Now" is way up there. "Apathy is a Deathwish" has a killer riff too.

 

Whenever I think of Ryan from SOTY I think of an in-studio clip where he was scratch tracking a solo and loving it then the producer flippantly said "That sounds like a beer commercial". I think it was when they recorded The Black Swan.

Speaking of guitars, it's always weird to me that Page Avenue contains none of Ryan's style, like at all. You could tell me he didn't play on that record and I'd believe you.

I highly encourage everyone to watch all of those Black Swan studio videos if you haven't. They're all great.

 

Thanks to this video, I've never been able to listen to "Tell Me" without imagining Tom Hanks from Bachelor Party bobbing his head to the intro riff.

 

Not into Black Swan? Their best album. Not sure haha.

I'd have to say yes to this one, it has more of the bang bang sound than their other albums I'd say.

 

@ComedownMachine I feel like everyone recommended heavier tracks to you after you didn't like Black Swan which opens with Choose Your Fate, a super heavy track.

I'd recommend based on Bang Bang you listen to: The Dream is Over and Children Sing off The Constant. If you like that, then give the full album a try.

 

Ryan's solo on To The Burial is nuts

 

It is! Probably my favorite solo of his besides Taste The Poison.

 

Same! Take Me Back is up there too. It's not flashy, but it's one that you can just sing along to.

 

I'd add Ghost of You and I to this list.

Favorite Album: The Black Swan
Favorite Song: Angel In The Swamp(The Antidote is a close 2nd)

 

The Antidote is a really cool song. This band has always satisfied my love for hooks and cool guitar riffs. I said it many pages ago, but I wish they would just bring a friend out to play bass. It's very similar to NFG at this point.

 

The Antidote solo is great. Short, sweet and doesn't overstay it's welcome.

That is a good one, just not one of my favorites. Still cool though! Same with March of the Dead.

 

I can get down with that top 5. I may order it different, but yeah that's pretty spot on.

Funny because Five Against the World is my least fav on ITWOD but that solo and the riffs are great.

 

I feel the exact same way about Five Against the World. Worst song, best solo. The solo has that cool Boston vibe.
