It was kinda weird actually because when we were invited to the green room back stage, the guitarist and manager were like "you're cool right? You're not gonna flip out? We've had situations in the past where guys get weird with Stephan" and I was just like "yeah I'm fine haha".

Didn't really get to talk to him directly that much but yeah he was nice in passing and in convo. Felt like a regular party where we had known these guys for years. Just a chill atmosphere.

 

Damn, I wish he would've told you a story about a particular time a guy "flipped out" on him, haha.

I think they meant like getting super chatty with him and sort of "fan boy" ish and ask a ton of questions whereas he's just tryin to relax and chill at the end of a show and not be "on" I guess.

 

I met him once seven years ago and he was really friendly. He busted his lip on the mic mid show and I asked him how his lip was doing and he was like, "oh it's not too bad now, but it's scabbed over so now it just looks like a herpes sore." It was pretty funny

what about Ursa and Dopamine?

 

I like Ursa slightly more than Dopamine but they're both very solid. Out of the Vein is my personal favourite. They're all well worth a listen.

I don't understand how that guy can say Jumper is a terrible song. Overplayed? Hell yeah, but it's a great song.

Vanderslice is somewhat of a recording legend haha so I can understand him hating on 3EB for this

I don't think he really hates them and you can tell he kind of thinks Jenkins can write songs so I would take it with a grain of salt

 

He can write songs, but he's an asshole. We all know that's why it's only him on their album covers anymore, and we all know that he makes the rest of the band dress all in black for promo shots. "Company of Strangers" is their best song in years, and the video is just him jumping around and hanging with beautiful women. He's an asshole, and this isn't really even a band anymore because of it.

That said, he's the kind of asshole that almost everybody likes because he's self-directed, appears not to care or be aware of what anyone else thinks, and has genuine talent and youthful energy in spades.

 

Why is making the band dress in all black a bad thing? Seems just like...an artistic choice. Kinda goes with the whole "Born in shadow" mantra.

Making the rest of your band do anything is a bad thing. That's not a band, that's a backing band. Which might not be totally inaccurate anyways.
