i liked this before reading the second part. now i regret it.

Maybe it's just because I don't have many friends in my new location yet, but I have barely played Pokken Tournament and i sorta regret spending $60 on it.

EDIT: I also almost bought Fire Emblem Warriors, but I did my research on that one and discovered that it doesn't have the usual Fire Emblem gameplay.

 

I have Pokken on Wii U and I didn't really like it. But I didn't buy it - just came with the unit when I bought it.

The last NVC podcast had an interesting listener’s question: if you had to remove one franchise off the Earth, meaning all the games in that series stopping to exist, will it be Mario or Zelda?

Obviously no butterfly effect, like Mario 64 or OoT puzzles being different because one didn’t exist. Just the high level version of taking a franchise off the face of Earth

ok so im trying to decide if i should buy a switch. id essentially be buying it for BotW and probably Odyssey eventually. Really i wanna hear from you all where BotW stands in your love for Zelda games. i dont need a list of ranking, i just want to know if you love it and why, if you hate it and why

It's fantastic, probably the best open world game ever created. If you enjoy the exploration in past Zelda games it's a must play.

 

For those going digital, Mario is available for pre-order/pre-load on the eShop.

 

If I had to pick a game I could wipe my memory of every year just so I could play it the first time again it would be Breath of the Wild.

Mine would be Pokemon. It would have to be the franchise though.

 

I wonder if they'll do some sort of reboot for the Pokemon Switch. A part of me really wants to go back to square one so they could reset some things, and probably add some things that would make the combat system even deeper and fun (or at least more balanced).

But I think that's too ambitious, and too polarizing to actually happen.

 

No way, they can't. They already went far enough (some great minds would say too far ;D) with Sun/Moon. Also the combat is crazy deep on a competitive level.

 

I love that we're still getting "Wait, that works?" moments from Zelda pretty often. The physics engine is really rather brilliant and a sandbox to itself.
