I was trying to describe myself to someone

    Dogmatic as ever.

I mean he is? He was poor at Benfica, terrible at Valencia, crap at AZ. Had a bounce back at Southampton building on Pochettino's work.

Struggles at Everton. He's just not a good manager, especially for someone who sees himself in the Barcelona role.

I genuinely can't believe he fucked it up this much this season. 3 slow as fuck #10s, not replacing Lukaku, not getting in two first team centre backs.

Like damn take the money they spent on the three #10s and spread that around the team, make Barkley happy again and they have a much better side. This summer was mental from them, and some lapped it up despite them completely ignoring a lot of faults they had.

Joined Valencia when they were already going wrong and still won a Copa with them.

Joined Benfica as they sold their best players, erratic in the league but did well in the CL (got out of a group a certain Man U failed in).

I'm not sure how you can argue he built on Poch's work that strongly. He arrived with 5 of Southampton's key players sold and they did something similar the next season. Arguably, he built on the work Cortese had put in place and he still had to get a team together, having shipped out so many key figures.

I'm not arguing he's a world beater (and talk of Barca seems like pie in the sky), but trash? Come on...

God, why did we sell him? It genuinely angers me.

I mean, surely you know now that most of my posts are hyperbolic. But I don't think he's a great manager. He wasn't one to take Everton further than they were, and he hasn't. He failed this summer, and thinks very highly of himself with absolutely no return outside of the Dutch league. I think this summer highlighted a lot of his limitations. Especially when it comes to changing it up, which he seems loathe to do.

Regarding Benfica, Moyes also did ~well in the Champions League and I won't mince words regarding him.

I mention Southampton, as it seems many forget that Pochettino did in fact turn them around, mostly with what they had rather than a squad overhaul. They were struggling when Adkins got the boot, he set up a platform and system for then to go on and improve from there (he's also dreamy:hearteyes:). Koeman seems to get most of the praise for that.

Also for some reason signing Jordy Clasie got on my nerves, don't like him either :crylaugh:

Uhhhhhhh, yeah! That'll turn their fortunes around! Lol - I remember LvG won the Eredivisie with AZ in 2009, Koeman took over the following season and was sacked by Nov/Dec!!! He is not as good as we were led to believe by the media/pundits, but he did have Southampton playing good football imo. No chance he manages Barca though.

Who do Everton get in now though? I don't think Dyche will leave a good thing at Burnley for them mid-season.

    Maybe Ancelloti? Tuchel?

Everton should go for Carlos Carvalhal or Chris Wilder.

It had to have been personal from Wenger. No other reason to do it. Szcz was clearly ready to be Arsenal's #1 now. Something he wasnt ready for when Arsene threw him in.

I'm actually looking forward to the new FM game, fancy giving it a go as Everton. Can't do worse than Kirman.

Yeah I am, haven't played one since '16 and realising the beta is out in a few days has me excited to spend all my time on it again.

I've played hours upon hours of '17 recently - currently in 2023 with Inter and loving it so may not bother buying '18 for a while. Especially since it was 50% off on steam recently and I missed it :verysad:

My '16 game, I'm european champions with Hertha and the game is up to 2028. Only teams who can really regularly beat me are Arsenal, Barcelona, Atletico and PSG.
