I forgot how good District 9 is, it's been a couple of years since I watched it.

 

I haven’t seen this in a long time but I remember really enjoying it. I know a lot of people pine for a sequel but I felt that the ending was pretty much perfect. Also, considering the direction Blomkamp’s career has gone post-District 9, I’m not sure I would want a sequel from him.

 

District 9 was so racist that Nigeria banned it, which admittedly isn't too hard given Nigeria's government censorship. It is very similar to a Nolan film in that it pretends to have higher ideas before it becomes a video game in the last third of the film. It is really incredible that he thought he was making a thoughtful film about apartheid when he made the black characters gang members and criminals and made cockroach aliens as the stand-in for the real struggle (who have to be saved by a white man).

 

Sharlto Copley played great in District 9

ABC Producing Comedy About Middle Eastern Superhero Family, from Bassem Youssef & Larry Wilmore

 

Does anybody feel that Shadow of Truth was overlooked in America? It might be the best thing Netflix has released all year, yet nobody talked about it and I can't help but think it has to do with Americans not being sympathetic towards a young girl being murdered in the middle East.

Same thing happened with Gangs of Wasseypur.

Wow, I had no idea there was going to be a World of Tomorrow Part 2. So hyped for this.

The first short film is on Netflix. Highly recommended if you haven't seen it.

 

why would they spend that much money on this movie, or any money on Geostorm

 

I just finished Manhunt: Unabomber. I thought it was a good little mini series. Not great, but entertaining and insightful on a story I was too young to follow when it happened.

 

Why do studios still think that Gerard Butler can sell movie tickets?

 

i was FLOORED when i saw the budget for geostorm. I honestly thought this was a direct redbox type deal that got a little bit of a kick for a small theatrical run.

 

I've seen so many billboards for it

 

I’m not gonna pretend to understand how these things work, but don’t they make these garbage movies knowing they’ll flop and then they put them down as tax write offs or something like that? I feel like there was a similar situation with the Ben-Hur remake

 

I actually saw Geostorm (not my decision) and it was worse than you can imagine.

 

Is it out already?
