kurt's body of work in the ring puts cm punk's to absolute shame. punk was the better promo by about 10,000 miles, but i'd much rather watch a great match than a great promo, and there is no one to come out of that late 90's era to match kurt's output.

of course not but that is at best a narrowminded way to view it

 

In ring wise I would never argue Punk>Angle, even though Punk had some incredible matches with Joe and Hero. Punk reignited my love for wrestling when he was around, so he’ll always be special for me. I love them both a ton. But punk would get a bigger pop

See, my first EVER wrestling show was Vengeance 2003. Kurt Angle won in the main event, and my stigma to wrestling being "fake" melted forever. He was so easy to believe. I'm not gonna turn the narrative to "Kurt Angle is my favorite", but he is absolutely why I'm watching wrestling today. I didn't have cable, so I could only watch Smackdown, and Kurt Angle was Smackdown.

So he functions for me as Punk does for you i think

 

bell-to-bell on a one-off, i absolutely think Kurt could match Punk in a big match environment.

 

I still remember seeing the Angle/Rock milk celebration, and then Stone Cold throwing the medals into the Detroit river. Was my first WWE show. What a night.

I love them both honestly. I’m super excited for Kurt and I’m glad I get to see him wrestle again

 

Why didn't they just replace roman with matt hardy, have kane beat matt till he gets broken?

 

i like punk but ill never get over the fucking hypocrisy of leaving wwe after bitching about part-timers taking the main event only to walk right into a ufc main event hilariously underprepared and unqualified

 

because kurt angle? people would be shitting all over losing shield to matt hardy, whereas the internet is on fire with hype instead

 

Just wondering how to pull this off in kayfabe

 

I feel like a lot of that was more on Dana White and the UFC. He just wanted to fight, and Dana obviously knew how much money would be made in that fight. Especially now seeing Punk taking a much smaller fight without any hype

 

I get this for sure, but it is kind of a “it’s different because its me” situation for Punk. I get that he couldn’t exactly say “no Dana, less money and put me on AXS fight night please”, but he said all he said and let himself wind up in the same spot and he at least deserved to eat some crow lol
