Taylor Swift – “Gorgeous”

I feel she wrote some excellent verses with great vocal melody and paired that with a terrible nonsensical chorus

 

what happened ? every new song has been terrible so far

 

Easily my least favorite so far from this album, but I was (and still am) into the other two songs, so that's fine. Even if the whole album is like this (which I doubt), even if it ends up being my least favorite of hers with little staying value, I'm still expecting a fun listen.

 

Omg did not expect to see this queen grace my Friday morning! This song wishes it could be Valerie cherish's flawless cover of I Will Survive!!

 

Anyone else find some of these lyrics gross? "You should take it as a compliment that I got drunk and made fun of the way you talk", "You should take it as a compliment that I am talking to everyone here but you".

 

I like the song. All 3 have been fine in my book. This one reminds me a lot of 'Style' and way too much of 'Gorgeous' by X Ambassadors. It almost feels like a ripoff of X Ambassador's chorus.

I loved 1989, but I haven’t liked any of the 3 released so far. If I had to choose one, I’d choose this one though.

The beat sounds straight Jack Antonoff, but yeah those lyrics.....

 

I don't see those lyrics as gross at all, but definitely stupid. It's just a silly song about being so flustered around someone you think is attractive that you say and do stupid things. There's definitely a strain of narcissism about it being a compliment that Taylor thinks she's such hot shit that thinking someone else is attractive is a compliment, but it's not like a ton of other pop artists don't do the same thing all the time.

Also it's catchy. 3/3 for me on what will be the most overblown album of the year. It's like a train wreck I don't want to look away from.

That's true. If this were any of the former One Direction guys (for example) writing these same lyrics, they would get absolutely destroyed by the media for being chauvinistic, sexist pigs.

These lyrics are so off-putting...isn't she about to turn 28? How is her boyfriend older than her and out at the club? Is she trying to pick up a teenager in this track?

In case it isn't:

*one of her most famous exes is famous for being a DJ... they work at clubs...
*even if her ex wasn't a famous DJ, lots of adults... go to clubs...
*her boyfriend (who this is probably about) is 26...not... a teenager...

 

I’m 28, I guess I should stop going to clubs in my geriatric age.
