@fenway89: You may want to remove that post, and @teebs41 remove your quote. Don't think Jason would like it if this information was in this thread. I could be wrong, but this is how I feel Jason has responded to things like this making their way here.

Edit: Not trying to be bossy or anything. Just thinking that if enough "leaks" over into this forum, and out into reddit and such, Jason will simply stop talking about this kind of stuff.

Yeah, I would say that Brand New is definitely big enough for a surprise release. I dont think they will do it, but I think they are big enough.

 

I always thought it was "A new world record"...wherever I saw it years ago was 'official' or someplace I thought was legit. Could be wrong though!

I want to know what you guys think, what is the most "Brand New" song you've ever heard? One that either influenced Brand New or Brand New influenced. I know i'm going to get a lots of TROW stuff in here, but what other songs do you think?

I think the second half of this song is the most non-BN "BN" i've ever heard.

 

What do you guys think about a pressing of the Leaked Demos on vinyl? I think it's going to happen.

The band, or their social media presence, kind of responded to the notion.

 

I'd rather they didn't. Keep it on the tapes to set it apart. That's just me though

 

I like the tape thing. It's funny, but as a physical release, I'm never going to listen to it. I want to blast it though my set up. Especially if it has Nobody Moves (Prime) on it.

 

The tapes have always been sort of a novelty-like thing to me, especially since fans have had the songs for over a decade/can stream it on Spotify. I definitely think there will be a vinyl release eventually.

 

Maybe I'm an idiot, but I don't see a problem at all with Brand New just randomly dropping an album with no warning? They're pretty damn big. Back when they weren't touring a lot, their shows sold out within minutes, seconds in some cases, and that's with the shows being announced a couple of days before tickets go on sale. A surprise album seems up their alley.

i think brand new have a lot of fans who still like to consume music physically (vinyl), so dropping a surprise digital album automatically alienates that crowd. also without properly promoting the release a lot of fans might not even know that it exists.

all personal opinion really, but i think dropping a surprise release is just too risky for a band like brand new who (presumably) depend financially on the money they make from their music.

 

The impression I got was that it was the same window for both, but that they'd space it out a few months, i.e. if BN dropped in September, KD would come out in December or vice versa, for example.

 

Never heard this before. The only "official" thing I know of is when they posted all the lyrics on their site, but all that has is this:

Can anyone check? I gave mine away years ago. I thought the site lyrics were pulled from the lyric books anyway, but I might be wrong.

I think there's a glitch with Chorus.fm that is sometimes stops sending notifications even if you're following the thread. It randomly starts up again. When you have an issue like that, you can hit up @Jason Tate as this is still a new site, new issues will surely crop up as it gets busier.

 

I think it's designed to not overload you with notifications for every thread you follow. You can still use the "followed threads" tab that was similar to the old AP way. Once I started using that I stopped forgetting about threads that I didn't get notifications from.

 

I think it might be intended as a feature of sorts to avoid notification clutter. In my usage, it seems as though I don’t get notified about a followed thread if I dismiss the notification and don’t visit that thread immediately. In other words, once the initial notification on a followed thread occurs, notifications on that thread do not resume until you visit the thread and view the new content.

 

Noro by far. Probably the best song they've ever written. IMO, anyway.

It's the one I listen to the most these days, by far. "Best" is hard to say because I love them all and they're all so different.

Agreed - I find that even if a person isn't a superfan I find there's an album or two that they like.

I don't think a digital release would alienate that crowd, as long as a physical release were to come at some point.
