Haha totally get it dude, I have bands like that in my life. I'm big into Mike Kinsella and I've been trying to get the guitarist in my band to listen to "Owen" for ages but he just doesn't dig it.

I really don't get into much music in the punk realm these days though, outside of Brand New most of my listening is a lot of post-rock and indie. Bands like toe, Now, Now, Nothing, Modest Mouse, Mogwai, (early) Band of Horses. Maybe I'm just a boring old man now...

 

I did that for years. And then I found that hotelier album and it sort of made me realize I was missing out on crazy good stuff.

 

Huh? They seemed the same as the ones that were posted on that site that was shared in here.

 

If anyone doesn't know The Tragically Hip, please ask me for recommendations. They were extremely popular in upstate NY, but I know outside of Canada and Western/Upstate NY, they're almost unknown.

 

Coming in here to say that Home Like Noplace is There is my favorite album of the past 5 years

It's in my top 10, for sure. Could never get into Goodness tho

 

Goodness clicked with me pretty quickly but not in the same way Home did. Hearing Home for the first time was a special experience.

 

Probably a top 5 all timer for me

 

My heart goes out to his family. I recently lost an aunt to brain cancer. It was an incredibly strenuous and painful battle, that no family deserves to go through #fuckcancer

 

Yeah, but there's a difference between not listening to something because of a recommendation and legitimately not liking the music. I don't feel like I'm 'missing out'. I gave it a solid chance and it's just not my taste in music. I can appreciate that you really like it and you want others to as well, but not everything is a matter of an album or band 'clicking' as if someone is eventually going to just like it because they interact with it the same way you do.

 

When that double album is released on October 27th, it's going to hit hard

Is anyone here into Blis.? They dropped their album but I haven't had a chance to have a good listen yet. Loved their EP.

 

Yeah, their new record is great. We've talked about it a little bit in here, I believe

 

I'm a million pages behind. Cause of the time difference, I'm always asleep when you guys are most active haha. It's shipped out so once the vinyl makes it here I'll be able to have a sit down beer-in-hand listen!
