"I’m very excited to share with you all the news of my forthcoming album ‘Songbook’. I wanted to release a document of what I've done so far, including my favourite recorded songs, 10 new alternative versions of older songs, and one new track. It's a moment of reflection and celebration of my work as a songwriter to date. Coming out digitally, CD, Vinyl and Boxset which will include the Show 2000 DVD.
Tune into Steve Lamacq on BBC Radio 6 Music from 4pm today to hear new track 'There She Is'. You'll be able to pre-order 'Songbook' tomorrow. CD/Digital release 24th November. Vinyl/Boxset release 15th December."

doesn't appear to be his actual next studio album, as he confirmed on twitter in an @reply to me a few weeks ago that it is out in spring

but it looks like this will definitely hold me over until then.

I originally thought this was the new album and was pretty disappointed, but it’s not, and that means I’m looking forward to it.

Always some reworked gems buried his Three Years records.

I'm hoping the vinyl box isn't too wildly priced, because I'd love the 2,000th show DVD

    Songbook Standard 3LP

pre-order for the deluxe box with the DVD is not happening until Friday but seeing as the standard is $37.99 my hopes are not high that this comes in under $60.00 total after tax and shipping.

The three weakest tracks off of PSFNP being re-imagined has me hyped.

my initial reaction was disappointed that the three songs I liked least from that album were being re-done but then got excited about it because perhaps now I'll come to appreciate them more.

Josephine and Love 40 Down are two of the best songs on that album.

I feel a little out-of-step with my fellow Frank Turner fans here: this might be the first song of his that I actually just don't like... His music is almost always pretty immediate with me, hitting me right away somewhere from 'really like a lot' to 'absolutely love'. Plus, Josephine is probably my favorite track on PSFNP.

I can't lie, this whole thing seems like kind of s strange release.

I suppose I am mildly curious to check out the reworked versions, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of those songs in the first place. The only one out of those ten that I even consider somewhat of a weak song would be Love Forty Down, and even then it isn't something a reworking would change or fix - the lyrics of that song always kind of rubbed me the wrong way even though I still enjoy the song. I guess its always felt to me kind of like he was straining or reaching with the metaphor there. But in the same breath I absolutely f---ing love Mittens and that whole song works like gangbusters for me, cheesy metaphor / lyrics and all. Maybe its because I'm not really a sports person...
