What do you guys think would be easier, finding like a studio or finding a roommate? I'm pretty wary of craigslist for either

But I found the place I'm at now that I like on Craigslist so am I just a hypocrite

 

Which neighborhoods are you looking at and what's your rent range including utilities?

I found my current place on Craigslist and love it...but I'm renting with my girlfriend so that's a bit different.

 

I'm in Logan, my roommate is moving out so ideally I'd just find someone to move in but that's proving difficult. So do I take a risk with a person or a new place? I have til July 1st but also I probably have to renew my current place before then.

 

I've had decent luck with random roommates over the years so I'd just look for a random roommate on Craigslist, but that's just me. I'd just be straightforward with what you're looking for on any ad you post (habits/hours/pets/etc.) and vet thoroughly on any ad you come across. Creep on Facebook or any other social media if you can. Also, if you find a roommate that you really like and you're adding them to a lease, don't be afraid to run a background check (assuming your landlord doesn't already do that).

My girlfriend looked for roommates on Craigslist and said the people she met were pretty normal, but she moved in with some acquaintes instead.

I found my current apartment on Zillow. I highly recommend it if you haven't checked it out already.

Eh... I'd probably try to just find a new roommate. You'll save a tonnnnnnn of money and moving is a pain in the ass.

Definitely put the word out that you're looking on your own social media stuff because odds are somewhere in the web of your friends' friends someone else is also looking for a place. If that doesn't work out, Craigslist is at least worth a shot. Just obviously, be picky. Have some set standards and ground rules, and meet up with a potential person for a coffee or something and make sure you gel (and make sure they have proof of steady income). Of course there are endless Craigslist horror stories, but I also have quite a few friends that have had it work out really well.

But, if you're able to spend a little (well... a lot) more, living alone definitely rules.

Jeremiah from Mest came into my restaurant and ordered from me today. The 11 year old me had no chill so I asked if he used to be in Mest. I know theyre from Chicago but I can't stop laughing to myself about it.

 

Do you have a set date? There're street fests pretty much every weekend during the Summer and most of them have several good bands for cheap or free.

- This map will be relevant to your interests.
- Eat some fat sloppy pizza. (Pequod's)
- Hit up a Cubs game if they're in town.
- Have the cabbie take you to 6 corners in Wicker Park. Lots of bars, record stores, venues, and shit like that.
- If you have time, spend an afternoon on North Ave Beach.

been to Chicago for a few hockey tournaments when I was younger, but haven't been back. it was a really great city. the only other city I see myself living in if I ever leave Philadelphia.

 

The Aloha billboard is finally gone. I have no reason to continue through this day.

 

I was hoping to see it again when I was there this summer. I remember seeing it up there and just being dumbfounded and giddy at how ridiculous it was. RIP Aloha billboard.

 

Everyone should go to Do Division Fest on June 3 and see Doomtree with me. Such a fun live show.

 

Bear vs. Shark is coming in October. I am beyond excited.
