    @Mr. Serotonin @aoftbsten @trevorshmevor @TedSchmosby @nfdv2

Thank you so much for your kind words about my songs (Sudden Pacific, Nutmeg State, Paper Moon). Positive responses like that goes a long way in keeping me going in a venture that can be very discouraging, which I'm sure you can all agree with.

I'm blown away by how good this comp is, I've only had a chance to listen to the whole thing once so I feel bad only singling out a few but @Mr. Serotonin @Benjamin Lee @bodkins & @alexmelton all had songs that were initial highlights for me and I am sure others will jump out the more in depth I listen.

All of the Johnny Mainstream stuff is on Spotify and iTunes, but it is all name your own price on bandcamp so you can get it for free. Sudden Pacific is on "Break The Kettles and Sink The Ship"

If anyone lives in the Northeast of the US, we should play some shows together.

    About my songs:

    17. Sudden Pacific - This is a song off my band, Johnny Mainstream's 3rd album/EP "Break The Kettles and Sink The Ship." Going into recording it was probably the song I was least excited for but ended up being probably my favorite. The song is a fictional story of a couple breaking up because one of them is moving from the UK to the US and while they are on boat the other dies in a terrible train or subway accident. This was one of those songs that I didn't have a clear lyrical vision for when I started but that story kind of formed when I was halfway through so I just went with it.

    39. Nutmeg State - Some friends of mine rent a house in Vermont for a week every year and bring all their recording equipment to spend the whole week partying and recording music. I went for a weekend in 2013 and wrote and recorded a song that we ended up putting out on my first (and only) ever vinyl record. The next year I came back with visions of writing another one while I was there. After struggling for the first day and a half I went to the basement and told myself I wasn't coming back up until I wrote a song. Nutmeg State is what came of that, it's about going to Arizona to pick up your friend's ashes to bring them back home to Connecticut. I used a melodica on this songs and probably more of my friend's songs than really needed it.

    57. Paper Moon - This is an old song that I wrote when I was in college some time between 2006-2007. Pretty standard song about a lovesick boy or girl on a road trip. I did some small rewrites and recorded it in Vermont in 2014 the same weekend as Nutmeg State. I was originally planning on adding some piano and other keys to make the ending bigger but after adding the back-up vocals I decided it was just right the way it was.

also for both jake and comedownmachine

I keep coming back to out of my system, it was a low key song at first but has strong replay value. the production on it is really affecting and I like your vocal articulation, it reminds me of someone but I can't place who. And the chorus melody is great

Can't tag cuz I'm on a phone sry

Next month would still be good for a fall cover comp I think.

  17. Fall comp sounds alright but it wouldn't stick with the artist-artist-mixtape schedule, if we're still trying to do that

If so, I'd expect down to do a "fall" type of artist, like Copeland, or maybe Dashboard

Have we ever thought about Tigers Jaw? They've got enough material.

    Edit: or Manchester Orchestra.

  21. Tom Petty makes sense.

    The Beatles seem ineventable.

The Beach Boys would be fun.

Conor Oberst would be interesting, but I wonder if that would end up being like the Modest Mouse comp.

I'd be down to go against the schedule and do another Fall mixtape next, if people are into that idea.

I probably won’t remember to check this thread so can someone @ me when the decision is made. I’m curious

  24. Regarding the suggestions already made, I have at least one song good to go for ManOrch, TBS, Andrew McMahon, Foo, and Dashboard.

I’ve never been in this thread before so you’ll have to figure me of these have been done before but I would throw Female Artists and Radiohead into the mix. I also fully support Fall music
