Tbf Neck Deep are pretty interchangeable with MB when talking about problematic arseholes in bands.

so this should be discussed, since this was something that i was either totally unaware of or forget because this was quite a while ago and was not brought up often enough, but everyone lashing out at moose blood needs to take a close look at this as well. taking the quotes from the news story thread

 

If you were around on AP I tried my best to call them out in any news post around the time it was going on, although it was a super crude way of doing it and I think I kept calling them baby dicks

 

Of course. I'm kinda losing interest in this. I just have a feeling it'll be similar to Golden Record and that'll bum me out. Plus, with the whispers that Brian Fallon is releasing something soon my attention has shifted.

 

i also very admittedly paid far less attention at that time to these things than i do now. and again, this proves that if things aren't brought up constantly people forget. i hope that will not happen again.

 

General "you", not just you. And plus at that time it wasn't really coming from the same place that I care about things now. I thought it was weird and creepy but was more using it to make fun of those dudes for being weirdos. Looking back you can see how shitty it was

 

oh yeah, i know it's a general "you", but i was still very much part of that culture that just let this by if i knew and let it slide or said it didn't matter.

this just shows that we're getting better now at learning how to handle these situations and not just brush them off as an isolated silly thing

Also not exactly the same as what Moose Blood did (stole nude pictures of the girl they were staying with off of her phone, iirc) but yeah, still harrassing, creepy, and wrong.

 

This isn't me defending them, this is just me seeking clarity.

Who was in the band when this occurred, and was AJ involved? Since AJ is the only person involved from the first couple albums I feel like it might be a good thing to clarify.

Moose Blood kick Glenn (their drummer) out of the band in response to the sexual harassment allegations against him from fans • r/poppunkers

the drummer got kicked out for nude pictures with fans, but the singer also has similar allegations against him but nothing was ever said about them

 

the self righteousness and moralism in this thread is getting out of hand.

i don't know it's a weird thing, people love to demonize people in the outer world to get an egoic hit of superiority instead of looking inward at where they themselves behave in selfish ways. i'm certainly guilty of that impulse.

obviously you can't defend any behavior that harms another human (the suffering of conscious beings is only thing that i can see matters). but this dense, reactive energy of demonization/self-righteousness doesn't help things either.

recognize that every person is trying their best, running off the inertia of their past trauma and and conditioning and fumbling to find happiness.

the aj who behaved this way was a younger, less evolved version who only acted out of lack of awareness and inner pain. again, not defending the behavior of him and his bandmates, but i do understand the space the people who do this kind of this operate from.

the dude clearly has evolved and matured emotionally, morally, spiritually since his younger days. i'm not going to sit here and condemn him so that i can feel "right".

anyway that main point is less moral righteousness and more understanding, while also taking steps to bring awareness to your own issues and consequently healing the pain of the world.

i'll probably immediately get shot down for this, but such is the modern landscape we live in

 

has AJ ever apologized and been accountable for this incident?

 

lol I don't think anyone even called for anything, just bringing to light a weird shitty situation that happened. Don't see the "self righteousness"

 

oh god, i remember the strikegently photos like it was yesterday. there was like, whipped cream involved or something, and it was legitimately vomit worthy. obviously that is nothing compared to the fact that they sexually harassed a girl with her own personal property. i haven't thought about it in years though, when it happened i was much younger/dumber/more apt to laugh that sort of thing off. so fucking gross.
