I didn't like the Travis quote about throwing all these songs on there just because people are going to make playlists anyway. I only ever listen to albums in full.

  2. Same. I only make playlists for parties or gatherings. If it's just me...I'm listening to albums in full.

I think Travis said that putting so many songs out there on the album was more of a thank you to the fans for having to put up with all the delays through the years in actually getting a new album out.

I've pointed out many many things on the album that I think wouldn't be on the record if it wasn't Feldmann at the helm. That's the kind of record Mark wanted to make though. Mark has done a lot of producing himself and if he wants the record to sound more like Untitled and take more time on it (as he's stated) Feldmann isn't going to bully him into doing things he doesn't want to. They'll clash if Feldmann thinks his "write a chorus while I get a coffee" thing will fly this time.

  5. Don't get me wrong, it was awesome to get that many songs after waiting for so long. But that's why I hope the next record is trimmed down and more focused.

I do both. I love listening to albums in full. But if I'm driving to work and only got 15-30 minutes I may make a playlist of my favorites

I tend to always favor albums where the band has a general direction they want to take, they work on a handful of songs, then they polish those up until they are happy with it. Generally, I feel like I can tell when I band writes like 50 songs and then trims it down until they get to 12 songs....especially when they're all upbeat pop punk tracks.

It's really sad to me than blink basically released a new album just a few months ago (yeah, not technically an album but it's still 10 new songs) and I pretty much never play it.

I mean it's basically a 14 song album with 2 joke songs and its approximately 43 minutes long. On average the band usually puts up albums with 14 songs on it, only Enema and TOYPAJ (if you don't include the bonus joke songs at the end) are the only ones with less than 12. And the average album length is 42 minutes so it's not like the band really went out of their way to give us more in terms of tracks or length of time yet for whatever reason it feels that way. Maybe because towards the end of California it seems to drags a bit while Enema, TOYPAJ or Untitled just flows really well. So yeah I guess I agree with you in the more focused part for sure as California just doesn't have the same seamless transitions between songs as Enema/TOYPAJ/Untitled did for example.

I'm glad they released it as part of a deluxe addition instead of saving those songs for a new album. While I like a lot of the songs on the deluxe album majority of them scream filler/B sides.

I would have been pissed if this was the new album so yeah I'm at least thankful they didn't save them for that

The man who is going to revolutionize technology is the same man that gave up on an acoustic album after the first 4 songs and released it a year late

Don't worry according to his latest IG post after he gets To The Stars.... up and running (which confuses me because I thought it was and has been up and running) he's finally going to return to music. Which he says means touring with lasers!

So I guess we should expect the other 6 acoustic songs in 2 or 3 years.

I'll defend Tom to the death on most things but the way he keeps saying "If only you knew" is so obnoxious. So you've uncovered all these shocking secrets....but now YOU'RE keeping them secret and being all cryptic and vague so what's the fucking point?!

  20. He's gonna put them in a badly written young adult novel. Duh.

  21. Right. Where you won't know what's real or what's fiction, so you'll just assume it's all fiction, so it'll be like he's just making it all up anyway, which makes it so there's no real point to even care about what's in the book at all.

I ran into a group of people playing Quidditch in a field by the trail last weekend. Does that count?

Probably a little late to the discussion, but I just wanted to clarify what this To The Stars thing is. I watched bits of his presentation and their introduction video and it's hard to cut through the buzzwords. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like they're simply seeking funding for research for non-traditional sciences?
