Ngl US Soccer deserves this for that ridiculous rule requiring players to stand for the anthem

    Sunil Gulati needs to go

This is all karma for what we did to Panama in 2013.

Its karma for a lot of things

It sucks cause on paper... this team should've been so fucking good. And it also sucks cause this isn't going to help the state of soccer in this country.

But yeah. Our country deserves this

Also now that we have a chance to rebuild... Nagbe is good for Portland. But zero assists and zero goals in the Hex don’t lie. Shouldn’t be near the bench for the Nats.

Also what the fuck is going through Aron Johannsson's head right now?

  11. Christian Pulisic won’t play in a World Cup match till 2022 now - fuck we are already wasting his prime

You say this as if there isn't another national team that is actually good and has a World Cup in two years...:chin:

Thankfully we’re only the third most embarrassing failed to qualify behind Chile and the Netherlands. And if any of the seeded uefa teams lose their playoffs too.

Chile and Netherlands would've both easily survived hex. This is more embarrassing.

USA not qualifying was way more embarrassing than Chile

There are going to be a lot of now proven very correct hot takes about the prestige of MLS and its players in the coming months because of this.

They’re the reigning Copa champs. Chile should’ve qualified well before tonight. Arguably, so should’ve we.

Sorry wasn't trying to discredit the UWMNTs accomplishments. Would be even worse if they were bad too. But I don't think overall interest in soccer is going to just shift to the women. Maybe some people will follow the women more seriously, but others will just keep following the same amount and put efforts they spent on the mens team into non soccer endeavors.

hey Roman Torres joined MLS and then scored a game winning goal to send his team to the world cup!

Friendly reminder that Panama’s first goal tonight wasn’t actually a goal so we were legit #CONCACAF’d out of the World Cup

(I know that our play is what really kicked us out. But this is hilarious if you’re not crying)

The last women's World Cup final was the most watched soccer game in the US ever and the women regularly outdraw the men in home friendlies. If US Soccer promotes them enough more people will get interested, not just in them but the sport in general. And they need to stop with this shit targeting kids more than any other demographic; they aren't the ones spending the money, millennials will get interested if they market correctly.

I got into soccer through the USWNT, it can happen if they shift their approach.

nah, that's not how you're supposed to look at it. USA was up against Mexico, two Peru-level teams in Honduras and Costa Rica, and two semi-amateur teams. 4/6 spots. Chile was up against Peru and two powerhouses in Colombia and Argentina. 5/10 spots.
