Like seriously, after listening to so many old blink bootleg concerts recently any news of Tom doing non blink stuff really bums me out. It's really too bad that "just being in blink-182" isn't enough for Tom anymore.

 

Especially when blink gave him more of a platform to get his crap out there. Not that that's what I would've wanted blink to become about.

 

No I know what you mean. I just keep going back to that Ernieball doc on him from last year where he talks about how Mark just wants to be "Mark from blink" and he just wants to do and be so much more. I wish he always just wanted to be "Tom from blink". And I really wonder what Tom from 2001 would think of Tom in 2017.

It's really a shame that because he wanted more he kind of ruin his own legacy.

 

"Tom from blink" was enough for a bit of success and now it's just fully "Tom the crazy alien guy that nobody really takes seriously" lol

 

Exactly. Like I said it's a shame what's happened to him. I blame the BCR album, as great as it was I think it gave Tom his ego and thinking he was bigger than the blink brand and got him thinking people would take him as a "serious" artist.

 

It's so weird cause it's like there's so many things that could've gone better with blink but I wouldn't change anything like taking away that BCR album. Like you say, just sad that Tom got so full of himself.

 

It's funny how "no one takes Tom seriously" yet he does actually have high-ranking government officials working with him on this stuff...

Stop telling on yourself.

I'll never understand why people hate Tom yet are so obsessed with his every move. Seriously just move on with life — he clearly has with his.

 

Tom is not crazy, aliens do exist. I am the proof. I've been on earth for 20 years though so he's a little behind.

 

Yeah I think he would. I don't think it's the actual subject of aliens, it's that he's not in blink anymore that's the issue.

 

Which is why I don’t follow him on any social networks.

 

Unless it was perhaps Scientology, I don't believe he would. If he was doing some religious self-discovery, it'd probably be more revered. As soon as you mention 'aliens' people roll their eyes. At least he's working to deliver something for everyone, even if it risks 'alienating' his fanbase. He's significantly less 'crazy' now as a humble father than he was during the Urehtra Chronicles era anyway.

If he was still holding Blink back from making music then I'd understand some bitter contempt. But he's not. There's no lawsuits. All parties have moved on.

 

That's not the issue, I hope he stays far far away from Blink.

 

I think a lot of people are still upset he’s no longer in blink and would take him back in a second. Not saying they are right or wrong but there’s still no Tom no blink fans out there.

 

That mentality irks me so much.

 

Tom's easy to make fun of but honestly he's actively a part of something he's been passionate about for a long time, he's worked with NASA and who knows if this venture is legit or going to do anything but if he's happy, let him live.

 

It's the internet, people are going to complain about anything and everything.

 

I've just skimmed thought the website and it's not a "Let's find aliens!" project it's actually about creating new technology involved in brain/computer stuff and telepathy(!) and propulsion systems and aerospace and shit. Then there's all his silly books and movies and whatnot of course too but it's pretty cool really and you can see why he's so excited about it even if 95% of people probably only care about music (like me).

 

I actually miss his StrangeTimes website. I frequented it quite a bit. Not sure how directly he was involved with it, but I still love that kinda stuff.

This new venture of his seems... interesting...

 

I am actually perfectly fine with Tom doing these things he loves. He's happy doing what he wants, and blink is putting out new music with someone who actually wants to be in the band. Best of both worlds

 

The real question is what in the hell even is To The Stars Academy and why would i want to invest in it?
