@bradsonemanband - Just wanted to make sure you saw that I resubmitted my song... I had half the vocals panned hard right. I don't know how that even happened!

  2. Well, this is the longest comp we've done, and it's also loaded with amazing stuff! For real.

We were going to try to get another compilation in this month, but I've made an executive decision to wait until November so we can really spend time on this one, since it's so massive. Everyone deserves their fair shot, so spend some time with this and enjoy it! xo

Haha, thank you!!! Means a lot. That was the one song we just wrote in studio and just wanted to experiment with effects and pedals and whatnot.

I just started this comp. Gonna take a while to get through, but sounds great so far.

    Excited to listen!

Sorry to be a pain, but could you change the artist on track 17 to "Johnny Mainstream"? The other 2 I sent are solo but that one is from my band so I want the other guys to get credit.

There's somethin' about your voice that I really, really love. Great song too (American Graffiti) @troyplaysbass

    Saxy AF.

  9. A little about my songs:

    2. bradsonemanband & CSWAPPO (20 Stories Falling) - Existence - This is the title track off our band's new full length that's coming out on November 10th. We're super proud of how the song and album came out. If anyone is interested in snagging it on vinyl or CD, go here and pre-order a copy.

    10. bradsonemanband - The New You (2017) - This is a re-recorded version I did a few days ago of track #47 on this compilation. The original track was recorded in my mom's garage in 2006, 2 years after I was out of high school. You can tell how old the song is because the bridge names drops MySpace... That line is one of my cringiest I've ever written, haha.

Also being a pain but my first track is listed as Belmore Club when it's "Belmore Cub" - all good on other one. Really not important though so no worries.

This is seriously impressive, so so pleased we opted for this comp this time.

Before I jump in, just wanted to give some insight to tracks I submitted

    14. Stray Therapy - Wrote this one specifically for the comp. A lot of songs I write can end up being kind of formulaic in structure, so I kinda wanted to just start from the beginning and see where each part took me! That resulted in a really short song with only one chorus, which I think is kinda cool. Lyrically, the song is about my struggle to finish things that I start, and how I often abandon things to focus on a different project. Ironically, these comps have always helped me with that!

    38. Corners - So, this is a really old one. About a month out from being 10 years old, to be exact. Clouds Take Shape was a band I played guitar in when I was 18, and this is one of the songs from our unofficial EP. Most of our other songs were poppier sonding (think Cartel or Paramore), but this one came out with a darker vibe that we all dug. Side note, if anyone here is a fan of The Word Alive, Tony Pizzuti was the other guitarist in this band. Part of reason we broke up was because he wanted to play metal so he started that band!

    51. Sink - This was the last song I sent in for the comp. I didn't have time to finish vocals on the other track I wrote for this, so I submitted this older one instead. Had a few options, but knowing this community I figured most of this comp would be based in rock, so I decided to try and diversify (now I'll get to see if I was wrong!). Anyway, I was really bored one rainy afternoon about 3 years ago and I made this. Figured maybe I'd use it as an interlude or something one day if it fit with something else I wrote!

Hope y'all enjoy as much as I will!

I'll throw in some context for my tracks too:

    25) "A Tiny Sea" - I have a gloomy fascination with water, it simultaneously terrifies me and calms me, depending on my and its state. I'm fascinated and almost soothed by images of the surface of it, but the moment that image changes into what's underneath - even if it's just vast nothingness - my anxiety levels peak. This demo was written and recorded after noticing the cover of a book which lay unread in my room (Neil Gaiman's The Ocean At The End Of The Lane), depicting a body floating in water from the viewpoint of the seabed. It's basically turned out being a story about my morbid obsession with water.

    34) "Hard Hard Heart" - I'd basically been really uninspired and isolated myself socially into a solitary way of living for years, but suddenly found myself snapped out of it and able to reflect on the benefits reaped from the company that I had taken for granted for too long. The song is a look at how I'd spiral downwards whether justifiably or not and yet there would always be these incredible women in my life pulling me out of the pit so selflessly and trying to teach me how to be better, or rather how to "unlearn" and evolve even if it wasn't fully deserved. My own motherdear graces the demo artwork too

"This Fire" was pretty tight, lot of cool instrumental stuff going on and the beat was pretty sweet. Catchy! @nickyeatworld

I guess this is the cool thing. Both of these songs are from my band where I make all of the instrumentals, and my friend does all the vocals and lyrics.

Master Blaster (16) - I really wanted to make something with a kind of big chorus, so I made this. There’s not really any crazy story behind this. This one is one of my favorites we have though.

October Baby (46) - This song is about a friend of ours (referring to me and the vocalist) who killed himself a couple years ago. Crazy enough, I was gonna submit a different song but the vocalist requested this because yesterday (October 8th) would have been his 22nd birthday. So he thought it lined up well and would be a good sentiment. Musically, I was really inspired by Death Cab and Copeland at the time so that probably bleeds through a good bit.

    24) ”Ascension” - This is a song that we wrote and recorded with my old band. It is easily my favorite of the songs we ever wrote.

I can’t exactly remember when we recorded it, but it was roughly 7 years ago. The reason I can pinpoint the year we wrote it is because I remember us playing the song live on our summer tour in Europe with The Saddest Landscape. Has to be the best summer I’ve ever had!

    Cursed by my ancestry

Listening now so I'll add more thoughts later.

    1) @bodkins @alexmelton This reminds me of a mix of Death Cab and Crying. Very nice.

    2) @bradsonemanband @CSWAPPO Wasn't expecting that breakdown! Took me back to high school haha.

    3) @troyplaysbass love the horn in this. Springsteen mixed with stripped down TWY.

Off to a really good start!

My wife Kayla, who sings for the band, is a huge Ben Gibbard fan, she'll be glad to have received the comparison. Thanks!

Stoked to check out the comp. Also, I like reading the "behind the song" stuff, cool idea. I'll type some up for ours a little later today.
