Lord Mantis is easily top 10 material. Abnormality...eh...parts of it get a bit stale but it's among the better death metal out this year.

Somebody say good death metal from this year? Dunno how big everybody else is on brutal death and genres like it but I love this shit. Killer drumming on this album.

I feel like getting more into progressive metal. What are some good places to start for a newcomer?

Was at the record release show on Thursday. They're a four piece now and sounded decent. They only played 6 songs over about 40 minutes. I dunno why but I was a bit underwhelmed by them live. New record is still decent tho.

    Jalen Ramsey is the GOAT

I got to meet Anthrax twice yesterday at Welcome to Rockville. They are all pretty chill, especially Joey who recognized me the second time I saw them.

Anybody listen to The Jasta Show podcast? Jamie Jasta of Hatebreed hosts it, but he features guests from all sides in rock/metal, and some of the stories these guests reveal are absolutely hilarious

Also, if you ever get a chance to see Parkway Drive live one day, do it

I actually had to sacrifice seeing them at Welcome To Rockville to get a good spot for Anthrax

Parkway Drive has never done anything for me musically. They look fun live tho.

They are a blast; I saw them in a 500-cap room last year, and they absolutely destroyed the place.

    but does it djent?

If you guys are into slamming brutal death metal I found a good band last night called The Dark Prison Massacre from China. They deserve the recognition as they stand out to me from other slam bands I've heard.

They really epitomize metalcore which I can see being a turn off. But they're so good at it I can't not like it.

Really excited for their Wacken performance in August; I'm fairly certain that's one of, if not the largest, metal festival in Europe, and if they can get a night/headlining spot, they'll attract a massive crowd

It's one of my favorite podcasts. Jamey's a really good interviewer because it flows more like a conversation between two friends instead of a professional interview. He talks to basically everyone too.
