Jack and the Neo-Nazis, who had ruthlessly killed dozens of people that we know of, decide to leave Walter alive with tens of millions of dollars despite the fact that:

    1. They met him when he was hiring them to murder other people.
    2. They just robbed him of the rest of his money.
    3. They just killed his family member that he begged them not to kill.
    4. They break into his house and threaten the rest of his family.
    5. He still has a huge chunk of money.

But it is all okay because they use a throwaway line about how Todd likes Walter so they will let him go.

  2. Dude died with his family hating him and his brother in law dead. There is the whole "I did it for me, I did it because I liked it" part but there were still a lot of things that ended badly for Walt

Absolutely have no grounds to talk about an ending I haven't seen in 4 years, but I recall being super disappointed with the stevia payoff in addition to him gaining redemption against the neo-nazis. It was too neat. As much as Skylar hates him, doesn't she allow him to see Holly before he goes? I only knew it was the anniversary because I posted this on FB:

    The Closure-Happy “Breaking Bad” Finale

I wrote way, way, way more about it over on AP and will probably never devote that much time and energy to the show again. Wish I could dig them up

He did get redemption in that the whole idea of "crime doesn't pay" is undermined by the fact that his wife is going to be able to escape the charges by revealing where Hank is buried and he is leaving his children millions of dollars. Obviously getting Hank killed and making his family hate him was not part of the plan, but his decision to make meth paid off. He lived longer than he was supposed to and they are going to be very secure financially.

Re-reading that article stirs up some of my old feelings. Walt "wins" in the sense that his plan works, he gets what he wants in the end. He is in control, smarter and more powerful than his adversaries. He kills the big bad, he dies the brilliant, troubled badass that he wanted to be. It's a bit cheesy.

the finale was disappointing because everything was rushed. they shouldn't have left everything post-time jump to this one episode, it needed two or three more. i feel like they didn't really focus on jesse's ending or his family's ending and walt's ending was very very tidy. i think that was the biggest problem with it all. it was a good episode but it definitely wasn't perfect

Definitely have mixed feelings on the finale. Wouldn't call it disappointing though.
The Lydia death was super weird.

The finale was good, but I didn't love it. I don't really know how else they could've ended it tho

Didn’t read the article, but it makes me sad she had to deal with that. I honestly thought she/the show wasn’t aware of the unfair hate. Granted I only really discussed BB on the AP forums where it wasn’t too bad.

Well fam, I think it's time for me to do a rewatch. Just rewatched BCS season 3 and it left me hungry for more, obviously season 4 is about to start but I want to relive the BB world again. It just occured to me that I havent rewatched the final 8 episodes, only watched them one time in order.

That is when the Nazis leave Walter alive, knowing the following.

    1. He is a witness to two murders.
    2. He begged for them not to kill Hank.
    3. The police are always more motivated to solve cop murders.
    4. Walter has roughly 11 million dollars left.
    5. The entire reason they know Walter is because he hired them to kill people.

Then, inexplicably, they threaten his family even though it appears he was doing nothing against them.
