I literally gathered that info from reading Mark Hoppus' tweets and instagram posts over the past two years, as well as seeing how people respond to other musicians. I don't understand it.

I will NEVER understand this. I used to see it ALL. THE. TIME. for artists like Paramore and Sum 41. What is with Brazil's fanbase that makes them feel the need to spam bands with that all the time?! I swear, it's the only fanbase I see regularly doing that!

I want to collectively start this as a joke.

Gonna start posting it on local band's Facebook pages.

I've always believed that good producers are good musicians as well. Though not all good musicians would make good producers.

Meh, I think I read that Tom was the pretty heavy hand in DED. While they were in the same room, I don't think Travis or Mark were too thrilled about what Tom had already created as skeletons before they arrived.

Did I miss out on anything since yesterday? Any news on the seriousness of Toms message? Did blink respond?

I am annoyed that he kind of keeps saying that punk is not innovative and he wants to be more innovative. Sure there's lots of boring "punk". But bands like Fugazi, At the drive in or even blink themselves in 2003 showed that "punk"#music can indeed be very artsy and innovative..

We're crazy people. Brazil is not for begginers. Still, our audiences are wild and artists love performing here because usually there's a lot of energy going on.

The "COME TO BRAZIL" comment became a meme among ourselves, most are just commenting because it's a thing, just for the sake of saying it.

Anyone who's seen the VIP ticket packages care to detail them? They're not showing up for my date

I think across a lot of punk and especially metal, Brazilian fans are some of the most passionate out there. It's awesome.

Brazil has A LOT of metalheads indeed. But fans just don't understand that artists won't elaborate their tour routings based on the amount of comments from each region of the globe.

Yeah I don't think they are capable of writing together anymore. Tom is too controlling of the creative process to compromise.

So I just went to visit my parents and I walked in on my mom playing BTD. I automatically assumed she must be listening to the radio, but she was on her laptop and watching the lyric on fb. I said "what are you listening to?" and she said "it's this new Blink-182 song, it rocks!" :crylaugh:

I am a very proud son.

I'd be so stoked if they have a VIP package for their eventual UK tour. I'd be less stoked if they just ended up playing Reading/Leeds... I digress... Having blink making music is good. I can't complain.

They play Reading too much lol they need to let another 5 years go before they headline again.

I also have to admit I was totally wrong about how their touring would be with the new lineup. I just assumed with Skiba they would be touring like 6k smaller venues. Not only are they continuing to book huge arenas/ampitheaters, but it also sounds like the hype and demand is higher than ever.

I guess it also has to do with the fact that they haven't done a full US tour in 5 years (crazy when you think about that - Civic tour in 2011 was their last full tour).

Man I'm just really happy that they are being so well received again.

  20. This is always an interesting discussion to me because at some point it will become literally impossible for you to tell the difference - and I bet you like quite a few songs with "fake" drums on them right now - and when that happens, should it really matter? If your brain can't tell the difference at all, does it matter how or who played the drums? Or does the song matter the most? I dunno, I go back and forth on this - and am always impressed by talented musicians and what it takes to do what they do - but if a song's good, I think a song's good, regardless of what went on behind the scenes that I know, or don't know about. Finding out someone not in the band played the drums on an album I like, (Mark Trombino on SILYMI) doesn't make me like the album less - the songs are still great. Finding out all the drums are fake on FYS's first album doesn't make me dislike the songs because I know that.

I don't think it's really over thinking it though, I just think that some are more attuned to audio quality than others. Totally cool that you enjoy it, but the best analogy I can think of is some people look at two cars and a car's a car's a car. They just see four wheels, some doors, some windows, they know there's probably an engine in there. Others look at two cars and see the differences. Maybe one's a modern car, maybe one's a van, maybe one's got a different engine inside that allows it to go faster, or whatever it may be. Both people are looking at the same two cars, both are right, but one is seeing things to a different level of detail.

And, taking that analogy to music: Neighborhoods is basically an '89 Eagle Premier that stopped working a few years ago, still leaks fluids on the driveway, and is covered in rust. It's totally fine that some will walk by and say "hey, that looks like a car." But, below the surface, there's more to it than that.

I really hate how prevalent the term "overproduced" has become in the past few years. It's to the point where I find it practically meaningless because it could mean something completely different depending on who is saying it and what they really mean to say. I also have always found the term especially strange when discussing Blink-182, a band that has benefited greatly, from modern production techniques and tools, and is very, very "produced" in the studio on all their albums and virtually every single vocal track has had the benefits of "production."

Couple reasons: 1) Because I wanted to have something from that album on there and it kept it from being too Dude Ranch heavy, 2) I really do like the more sped up version of it a whole lot.

  21. Can't stop laughing that someone said Blink-182 sold out.

    In 2016.

I love that this has to be someone that became a fan of the band when they were literally the definition of that stupid term, sell outs. I could walk into any grocery store in the country and buy boy-band like posters for my wall of Blink-182 (and I did). This is amazing.

Listening back to TOYPAJ the last few days I'd forgotten how Tom sounds like a robot with the amount of layering or reverb or autotune or whatever they did to his voice haha. The whole album is "overproduced" like crazy. Even though I enjoy the more "raw" sound like Dude Ranch more, I don't think the "polished" sound of the new stuff is severe enough to stop me enjoying it.
