are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

Upon first listen, this isn't a bad record, but it's definitely a grower to me. Harmlessness was a bit lacking to me after Whenever, If Ever, but this sounds like a step in the right direction. It's also a jarring tonal shift from all the metal I've been listening to recently so I probably need to adjust my musical schemas to get in the right mindset to listen to this one.

  8. This is starting to grow on me. I went in expecting growth on the Harmlessness sound and was disappointed, but taking it at face value, I enjoy it a lot more.

I love artists that tackle a variety of topics, be they very specific or broad. I think TWIABP does both fantastically. I love this album and its been great to listen to at night as the temperatures decline here in NC

who writes the lyrics in TWIABP? is it collaborative, is it one person, does it vary from releases? feel free to chime in @christeti :D

i know different people work on lyrics. i know nicole wrote a bunch of lyrics in older releases, dave does some, i know different people work on songs together but i'm not 100% sure if it's by song or if even within songs different people pitch in

Coming around to this a bit. The second half is much more enjoyable. Lyrics are helping.

This is the fourth record this year that I find myself continually going back to when it's time to listen to something.

2017 has been such a good year for new music!

Infinite Steve might be the coolest track they've ever done

perhaps, i'm not 100% sure that was the intent. not obviously taken from that

Oh wow, good catch. Wonder if it was intentional

This album is better than I initially thought after my first listen. Granted, this is only my second, but this album is pretty tight. The middle portion of the album loses me, but it starts and ends so well.

  19. It isn’t the intent at all

that's what i figured, that phrasing is pretty generic

We reach for the longest shadow

Still trying to get a good feel for this, but i feel like Hilltopper and Faker are very strong back to back, and I love the transition from Gram into Dillon. I like the rest, but it needs more time to digest everything going on here.

We reach for the longest shadow

It's already been said, but Fuzz Minor isn't immediately as memorable as Marine Tigers and Infinite Steve, and I think that plays to it's disadvantage initially, just because of how strong the other two are. That's the one song I need to pay attention to more the next time around.

yeah, definitely not the intent. not even something I remotely considered when I heard the line and I recorded both those albums

It's pretty spread out between everyone who sings. There are some songs where one person has the majority of lyrics for it. Some tracks have totally different people writing lyrics depending on the part.
