No worries, though. I just have to go through the process even though I thought I wouldn't have to or it wouldn't be as bad. I have to feel those feels and get it over with.

But yeah, I go to the gym and run regularly and play Destiny with a bunch of people from Chorus in the evenings some nights so I won't have a problem finding distractions. The biggest thing I think is that we texted all the time throughout the day and we would have something to rant about on our lunch breaks to each other over text and it really helped the day go by quickly at work and now like, I don't have that or have her to talk to

I know I shouldn't be thinking about this right now, but I just don't want to have to go through the dating process all over again in a month or however long it takes before I'm "ready" to do that and what that's going to look like and then ending up right back here again when the next relationship eventually ends and repeating this over and over and over until I eventually find someone who knows when where it'll eventually stop. I just feel really tired and drained emotionally and physically about the whole ordeal and doing this from start to finish again is making me feel ill. ugh.

Feeling the feels is a very mature response, you should be proud of that. I really don't think that most people initially do that.

I feel ya on the last part, but I'm sure finding people you genuinely like and enjoy and give you some sort of happiness is something that tempers the sort of pointlessness of the cycle. Makes it worth it, yknow? Or else you wouldn't do it anymore. Shit post in here!

hey, some of us do this even on good days, man.

 

crazy story, just got dumped / broken up with about 15 minutes ago. here's the brief run down:

- girlfriend texted me this morning that she wasn't gonna be at work today, taking a day of vacation

- texts me at 8:30 if i'm going home for lunch (i never go home for lunch, so that seemed weird)

- texts me at 9:30 that i should go home for lunch (weird)

- came home now ahead of time because i'm confused as fuck and oddly excited and can't focus on work (who could??). find a letter taped to my door (weird!)

- all the letter says is, "i can't continue to live this way. you're a bad person for making me dump my fiancé. i need to be married by the time i'm 26 and that's not going to happen with you so i'm going back to him. don't worry about work - i called Mary and told her i was done. that job sucked. take care."

weird day. and it's only 11 am

Sounds like you've had a bit of a fortunate escape. I'm not sure how you're meant to deal with someone who 'needs' to be married by an arbitrary age.

Yeah, maybe. Idk. It just sucks slowly getting to know someone, investing time, opening up emotionally and then all of it just ends. And then you restart it. Ugh. I mean, I'm sure I'll be back in here all ecstatic about someone again in a few months but that time between takes forever. Thanks everyone for listening and replying, I really appreciate it. I'm going to go home a couple hours early, hang out with my dogs, and catch up on sleep. I need to try eating, too since all I've had in the last 24 hours is a half a cup of greek yogurt but I'm still feeling that weird stomach feeling

 

Seriously this got to me today at hope fucked up this is. I hope you can find someone that appreciates you and won't treat you like you're there one to blame and the only person at fault.

 

I have like a handful of girls interested but they never like, actually want to hang out... they mention they do a bunch but whenever I'm down to they seem to be busy. Meh.

 

trying to reopen some doors I closed cuz the girl I'm currently seeing barely puts in any emotional effort and I can't see this going anywhere anytime soon so I need to explore other options. I'm not gonna stop talking to her cuz there's the chance that she's just always this busy but at the same time I need a little validation that she actually cares about me.

@MrCon yes, this was the girl everyone said to steer clear of - although things certainly could have gone much, much worse than simply her breaking up with me with a letter taped to my door. christ, she could've burned down my apartment or some shit (women from the past would have very likely done this). i'll take a letter on the door any day of the week!

@Bloodsucker II this has probably been the cleanest and easiest break up i've ever encountered and one where i'm pretty sure i can say i wasn't the "real" issue behind it. not sure why 26 specifically but i remember her talking about like, at 25 needing to have all the pieces of your life in place (college degree, nice apartment / house, solid relationship, either starting a career or 2-3 years into your career) and that then being married at 26 "would be like the cherry on top". she kind of talked like she had worked past this mindset, but obviously it came back and she is completely correct, noooooooo way i was gonna be married to her by the time she's 26 (that'd be 4 months from now).

@dylan haha that's right! forgot about that line in the song. and i've listened to that album hundreds of times. i've actually had conversations with friends about how real that line feels at times when shit sucks and you feel like all the progress you've made isn't progress at all


i haven't talked to her since her last text this morning. hope she's okay - seems like she may have just either had something happen or had a bad day or something because to break up with your boyfriend, run back to your ex-fiance and quit your job all in one day seems like quite the mess to pick yourself up from and sort out. feels like it would be a lot to digest, but maybe it'll work for her.

the most obnoxious part of the day was once people started hearing that she had quit they came to ask me what was up since they knew we were together. finally, after a few vague answers and uneasy laughter i sent an email to the entire office letting them know that she not only quit her job but quit me and chances are i know less than everyone else does so i wouldn't be able to help solve the mystery.

again, weird day.
