I am all for emo bands shifting into non-emo music, I love non-emo music too, but this has lost (almost) all uniqueness, the songwriting is bland and the special, wide-eyed atmosphere is lost.

    Meet me in Montauk

I'm a tad bit late on listening to the leak, but I have to say that I'm a little surprised that folks on here aren't really loving this new sound. For me, I think is a step up from their older sound. I don't know. I totally get that a lot people loved their post-rock sound, but this just works for them on a different kind of level. After my first listen, it's already one of my favorite albums this year.

I guess I just naturally prefer the more "poppy" sound. I didn't really LOVE Harmlessness, but I think this album has become my favorite of theirs. And I have to say that Marine Tigers has to be one of the best tracks this year too.

No, no that's not the problem. This record is subjectively less unique and interesting sounding than any previous records imo. Nothing to do with emo or not emo, labels are stupid anyways.

I super fucked up though and said "Tyler" when I meant "Thomas". Thomas was not on the previous record, nor this one.

Discourse beats shouting matches all day every day

If you respond to a view you disagree with with anger, the only thing you're gonna get back is anger, so it's always, always better to respond in a rational than emotional manner imo

Hey @teebs41 that tweet you made to TWIABP says you were in Mullica Hill. Is that where you live? Because that's my home town.

Finally listened last night. After my first listen, I didn't know what to think besides knowing there were some I liked and some that wasn't a fan. After about 3 listens, it has already grown on me and basically like every track now. I can see what they were trying to go for and I feel they pulled it off well. Not sure if I like this more than Harmlessness but I do want to keep listening more. Hilltopper and Fuzz Minor are some of my favorites.

I dunno, not really feeling this one. Looks like Harmlessness may remain the only album I really dig from this band.

That guitar in Faker literally splices through the entire mix haha

This keeps growing on me with subsequent listens, that's exciting. I think comparing this is to their first LP is the only fair comparison I can make-- harmlessness was a flash of lightning for my mindset and positivity

give it at least 2-3 listens, i really don't see it as a step down. It's a more focused sound and a shift towards Alt-Rock but the writing is still really strong.
