I agree with this. It's a star league. Thomas is a solid #2 or #3 option. But team's don't win rings without top 5/top 10 talent.

 

He's a championship level back up point guard.

 

Do you guys think KD will consider going there? I'm still not sold on that idea.

 

No chance in hell unless they pull off some trade magic first. Why leave Russ and a comfortable situation?

 

I think he can be a starter on a championship game because if you look through history, rarely is the best player on a title team their Point Guard. (Curry obviously being the exception here)

 

I don't think there's any smoke and mirrors with Thomas. He impressed me all season. Even with them throwing their entire defense at him in the Hawks series (and they're a good defensive team) he still averaged, what, 24 points? He's the real deal, he just needs to not be the only option.

 

I agree. And mentally, he's the perfect Celtic. There's a certain attitude needed for that green. Some guys don't have it. He has it in spades.

 

Yeah he's got the hustle and scrap that we eat up here. And definitely seems to feed off the love he's getting. Sometimes you feel like he makes these incredible circus plays just because he knows the building is going to be deafening cheering for him when he does.

Plus he said last night that he's all about going on the road recruiting stars telling them what it's like to be a Celtic. Seemed really enthusiastic about it.

 

It's crazy how much people don't wanna come to Boston, and then when they do they "bleed green." Looking at you KG.

 

Boston sports fans are a very particular kind of intense that I don't think players really understand until they get here. It can destroy you (Carl Crawford, Pablo Sandoval, really mostly baseball players), or you can thrive on it like Ortiz and Garnett.

I'm really interested to see how well Walton holds up in the shitshow LA vs having that elite squad in GS. Hope he is ready. It'll be fun to have a young coach to grow with the players.
