  4. Shannon Sharp was shitting on Vellenuva for not staying in the locker room with the team. I turned it off just because I feel he shouldn't get shit on for his personal decision.

Not that it was surprising, but I felt gross being a fan of a team where every player stood, and seeing random tweets from gross people saying "I'm no longer a Patriots fan because players kneeled, I'm with the TEXANS now!" just made me wanna die hahaha.

Tomlin had them stay inside the locker room to avoid anyone having to kneel or sit or stand or whatever and be unified as a team behind closed doors, with the option to speak out afterwards. Whether you're for or against Villenuva's choice it undermined the coach and team. I'm sure plenty of other players wanted to have that platform but abided the coach's decision.

The amount of speculation about whose decision it was and why it was made was crazy....like, nobody has sources and can ask? It took til WELL after the game to get any clarity

That said, this is actually an interesting angle. The coach got the team to agree that they would all stay in the tunnel. Villanueva did not. That's not a "personal decision", its disrespecting your coach and teammates. Because there are undoubtedly guys in that locker room that wanted to go out and kneel, and didnt because they had an agreement.

Realistically, the steelers could fine or suspend him, but it wouldnt be worth the pr nightmare. But as a teammate, I did find that a shitty thing to do.

They werent in public line of sight and in the TV cameras. Same idea.

  11. Ehh I still disagree with it.

  12. I wouldn't say it's the same idea.

Its the exact same idea. The point is to not be a public display one way or the other. Whether thats in the locker room, the tunnel, etc. No national broadcast TV camera should be able to pick up a Steelers player and say "they are standing/kneeling". Its an intentional non-statement.

    Villanueva made a statement.

I understand why he ddi what he did, but, for all the talk of Kaep being a "distraction", so is AV and his action

Clearly, he could've done the exact same thing without going out into the spotlight and showboating against the decision of literally everyone else. doesn't seem like tomlin is that mad though either way.

The biggest problem is next weekend. If Tomlin wants the team to agree to stay out of sight again, can he even get that?

Imagine if... you didn't want people to kneel because you were worried it was a distraction and it wasn't one at all. And then this happens and it actually is a distraction and divides entire locker rooms.

  17. How's that showboating ? Showboating would be more of him being a complete asshole.

Yeah, I dont agree its showboating. I respect why he would want to stand considering his background (and hes publicly stated his reasons before). But if your coach is gonna go out and take the bullet for the whole team, you have to back him up

That said, I think the Steelers handled it wrong, and I wonder if it was an ownership decision. The seahawks did a much better job of communicating their team decision, for example

Showboating means showing off not being a complete asshole. He wanted to show off his patriotism or whatever, he went against the team decision. it's simply just what happened.

The word "Showboating" is not necessarily depicted in a negative light like you make it seem. For example, the person who wins the noble peace prize or any other winner of a contest typically showboats by raising his or her trophy and showing how proud he is to the photographers and media.

  20. I agree with that definitely. I just don't think he intended any harm.

You're the one that actually raised this as an issue. You turned off your tv, fine. If we talk about it more expansively, you don't want criticism or difference of opinion? Okay

I simply said he went against the team and into the spotlight to show what he felt. You're simply misconstruing words and looking to argue because you're angry.

Also you didn't even read all that I wrote so... cmon man

  23. All's I stated was that I turned the TV off because I feel someone shouldn't get shit on for a personal decision. I can say that pretty much for most of these players. But whatever. This why I stay out of politics most of the time, it's dangerous waters to be testing. Yesterday in the game day thread proved that and so does this before it gets to be completely stupid.

I would be thrilled with a player if he went against BOB/McNair's wishes and kneeled, so I think I'm okay with what Villanueva did too
