This team had Hector Santiago as its no 2 starter the when the season started.

 

Ervin Santana has to be one of the most overlooked quality starters over the past 5 years. Really, he's had like... 3 bad years over the course of his 12 year career, but he's not a guy you think of as an ace or even really a #2. He's had a really good year, and just in general has really taken off over the past half a decade.

Santana and Berrios have been really good all year, and Gibson has gone from being hot garbage to one of the best pitchers in September. Still, it's surprising to see them perform this well when they couldn't get anything out of 2/5s of their rotation the majority of the year. That offense was good, but not unbelievably good. They really found a way to pull through though, good for them.

 

To counter, I think the offense WAS that good. I am pretty sure they were the best offense in August and MAYBE April as well?

Also 5.03 runs a game is 4th in the AL

 

Feels so awkward that Boston and Houston have to play 4 games and then the division series lol
