“Dry Year”:

We recorded this the night of the election. Nate and I sat at the Two Bells and watched it go down. Then we loaded into Studio X and didn’t really leave for three days. Seemed like the only thing to do. The rain is a Seattle morning outside my bedroom window.

This bit makes that song hit even harder for me.

 

im trying to stream it but my data connection sucks at work. guess I'll wait until I'm home. don't want my first listen to include starts and stops every 10 seconds. hopefully a rip will be available by then.

 

just finished track one, will report back after. love this for an opener.

 

“Send the Rain (To Everyone)”:

We set up two iPhones and a computer and recorded the guitar onto their mics. That was the base layer. Death and love. The impetus for everything.

I had wondered if this was an iPhone recording, at least partially.

 

WOW. TRACK 1. INTRO. STRINGS. LOVE IT.

 

not quite sure that was what i was expecting from the beginning of the sound but then it really picks up and definitely see the yitc comparisons

 

my goodness heavy metals. did 5 minutes really just go by?

 

Heavy Metals is probably the best song I've heard this year. Haven't heard the rest of the album yet.

 

Haven't listened yet but I've listened to Heavy Metals 5 times a day since I've heard it

 

number one hit a bit different from what i remember but it was acoustic live. feels like a whole different song on the album.

 

I find heavy metals very boring outside that middle part that is absolutely stellar.

 

Never was into this guys old stuff but this new stuff sounds pretty sweet to me.

 

cocaine sure is all over the place. the repeat bass line makes me feel like i'm going insane

I just die everytime that chorus in Heavy Metals hit at the 3 minute mark. Best song of 2017 so far.

Cocaine Sex & Alcohol is strange. Hopefully I come around on that one because at first listen I don't really like it.

I actually think cocaine sex and alcohol is pretty fucking great

 

Same. Definitely very Radiohead, but also definitely very good.

 

I still don't like it at all. I skip it about half the time.
