I feel like the cynicism and negative remarks in this thread are a little bit overboard. I get that the pop punk scene is fucked when it comes to certain bands, but shitting on every single band that is mildly associated with it is really judgemental and closed minded. When did this thread become everyone shitting on everyone else's music taste? That's not what this site is about and makes it far less enjoyable to interact with other people. I feel like I'd be judged if I said that I'm actually pretty excited for Trophy Eyes first US headliner, which is super lame.

 

Idk how someone could find Trophy Eyes generic but then not think the same about Head North

 

One thing I don't get about you, is you feel the need to shit all over what other people listen to in these threads but you go after anyone who dares talk poorly about anyone you enjoy. What's wrong with the to each their own mentally and just let people enjoy what they enjoy? Just seems unnesscary to me.

 

when do i ever seriously go after someone who talks poorly about the bands i like? i mostly just say that they're missing out from listening to better bands than they actually do

I can't argue with that, but that fact alone doesn't make any of these bands shitty and you could probably find a more effective way of communicating your message instead of being overly immature and negative. That doesn't make anyone want to listen to you and it makes some people uncomfortable, which I doubt is your intention.

Man don't pretend that you don't, I've had many interactions with you myself. Your condescending opinions of metal, I've seen you go after many many people in different brand new threads. You felt the need to comment on stuff in adtr threads when I know you have no real interest on them. It's honestly why I noticed when you post at this point cause often it is going after someone else or shitting on their tastes. Look at the trophy eyes stuff right now, it doesn't really concern you, you don't like the bands, to each their own, but trying to get people down who are genuinely excited for the tour just kinda sucks, and it's not really what music is about. I guess I just don't get it.

My point stands. While I agree with your assessment of tours being male dominated and that it's a real problem, you come across extremely juvenile in your approach.

 

metal is a great genre, i don't speak poorly about metal ever.

i think the problem is that people take me way too seriously on the internet

 

why do people take my negativity as something they should take personally? i didn't realize i had that much power and influence here

 

It's not about criticism, it's about intentionally getting down on people that are excited about music or tours that you don't care for. I guess I just don't get what it accomplishes, and just kinda seems counterproductive to me.

 

i didn't just straight out get negative out of nowhere tho, i made a harmless comment about free throw, then people started ranking the bands, so i put in my (obviously very joking and half-assed) input here

 

Nobody was intentionally putting anyone down though, people are taking others not liking certain bands way too personally

it's close but it's not as clear cut as it used to be

 

I want to word this without coming off like a dick, I think what i notice is you make a lot of great points from time to time about culture in general and there is stuff I agree with, but then you will make comments and I remember this specifically about people at like the big box metal fests IQ, or generalizing everyone at a hardcore show as being just a bro going to beat someone up, and it's comes across almost like pompous. Almost like a "I'm better than you cause I listen to this attitude". And it kinda negates all the postive you say in here. Like I grew up in the metal and hardcore scene and sure there are some assholes there but what public place doesn't have a few assholes ruining it for everyone. Some of the absolute best people I know I met at shows growing up. From the age of 18 to 25 I worked in the industry and idk music is such a special thing to everyone and people shouldn't be put down or made to feel bad about what they like.

 

i don't disagree with this post. as i said, i think the problem is that people take my half serious posts full serious, it's pretty obvious when i'm really trying to make a serious point but most of the time i'm having a fun time on the internet

 

I'd again like to point out how strange it is that the taste of this thread is so different than the rest of the forum. Not as varied, either.
