Does anyone in here like punk? I've been listening to a good amount of older Blood for Blood and boysetsfire the past few days

The vocal effects coming in over the guitar are sheer bliss. Shudder every time he comes in. Line is brilliant too.

I saw something in the night sky over Camden is utterly haunting as well. Whole song is perfect in every way.

Some might even say that they both released the best albums of their careers this year. That's how I read your post originally anyways so it seemed fitting to change it.

 

i'm too nostalgic to put them over metn or deja but its def a valid argument.

 

Even though I have soooo much nostalgia and memories attached to BN's discography, and that TDAG literally helped me not go crazy. I'd say Science Fiction is my favorite album from them at this point.

And I'd probably say the same for A Black Mile

 

I think A Black Mile is manchesters best record, I still think TDAG is Brand new's best record even though this and Daisy are still really close.

 

When A Black Mile came out, I was convince I wouldn't like anything Brand New put out again as much as it.... but as much as I love A Black Mile.... I love Science Fiction even more. It really is special.

 

Easily my top 2 records of the year.

deja came out when i was like 16 or 17 and i've never experienced music like it since. it'll forever be the greatest for me. i know i'm in the minority and i'm cool with it. metn came out when i was fresh outta hs and i was straight up obsessed with everything andy was doing at the time. just a perfect storm that those both became two of my fav albums of all time. dont think they'll ever be topped

 

Same experience with Deja. It absolutely blew my mind when I heard it. I had never heard anything like it

 

It's really hard for me to choose, but I do find the lyrics to Science fiction really fitting to the world right now and easier to relate to, while the Manchester record is this great wintery story.. i think the MO will be an incredible Fall/winter record so I may grow to like it even more, but in the end SCIFI will probably be my AOTY just bc the massive weight it holds over me and I find the lyrics a bit more relatable.. I need to listen to Menzingers more bc that was my AOTY until like July.. still could sneak in and steal 2nd place, probz not tho.. also Paramore is up for contention will probably sit in my top 5. I'd say this is my favorite year for music like ever.. haha. and I loved last year with Hotelier, Thrice, radiohead. I don't even know what point I'm trying to make anymore.

It's Brand New after all. For me and many many others, this band still has that special je ne sais quoi factor. They always manage to strike a chord no matter what they do/put out and yes they most certainly did it again with Science Fiction obviously.

 

When this bassline kicks in in "Lit Me Up" Good lord, this song is great

 

I agree.... I think I may end up really liking that Noah Gunderson album too.

2017 worst year for politics/world events, best year for music.. pretty much describes how I feel about this year..

I really want the last jedi soundtrack to come out and somehow make my top 10 releases for the year too.. its hard to include stuff like that sometimes though.

 

still remember listening on my computer in absolute awe and tears hearing "this is the grace only we can bestow" for the first time.

what a magical record.
