Not that web browsing should be a huge drag and I haven't noticed anything but my iMac getting around 3 years old so I don't want a ton of memory being sucked by my browser. Plus I'm interested in syncing that stuff between my products. What are the extensions look like. Mostly I want an ad blocker and 1Password on it but I also have a couple extensions that are supposed to make my experience more secure.

 

There is an ad blocker I don't remember putting on it so it may have been included? See,s to work fine. A lot of pages want me to turn it off... as for other extensions i really only use the OneNote Web Clipper (which works more reliably in chrome actually). Hopefully someone more knowledgeable about the more technical side of this can chime in, unfortunately I just have pure anecdotal experience haha

 

I moved to Safari on desktop about a year ago and am glad I did.

So tempted to buy an Apple Watch. Might just do that when the next paycheck comes through. Ughhh.

 

I still use chrome as my main browser and I love it. I don't seem to get the big battery drain over the last year or more, I feel like Google got their shit together on that.

...Then again, my MBP's battery has been kind of shit in general lately because it's 3 years old and I use it like a desktop and have it plugged in always, so it's a little harder to gauge a battery drain :)

 

Apparently T-Mobile will pay off the rest of my payment plan on my iPhone 7 that's under AT&T so I can get an X that my mom said she'll pay for. Cool!

 

How does preordering work on Apple website?
Do you just order as soon as it gets on the store and hope you get one of the first batch? Does it tell you when you'll get it?

 

Yes and yes. Try to be quick, and you’ll get a delivery date right then and there.

 

Thxs. How does everyone normally get on with it? Do you find you get what you want if you're on the pulse at the second it goes on? Guessing X will be more limited than others though.

 

I haven't bought a new phone in over two years. Does Verizon not subsidize phones anymore? It looks like you have to pay full price even when you have an upgrade available.

 

Two-year subsidized contracts have not been a thing for at least a year or two. You either pay full retail up front, or pay full retail over 24/30 month installments.

 

No subsidization.

You have to get onto a Apple Upgrade Plan, Next plan, or whatever the heck Verizon calls theirs. You still technically pay the full amount (ish), and it the only way to avoid paying for it all upfront.

 

Their online store will go down leading up to the start of pre-orders. I just keep refreshing right around the 12 AM PST time until the store finally comes back up, and the new products will be available in there immediately at that time.

I would recommend using the Apple Store app on your existing iPhone or iPad. Tends to go up quicker than their desktop site, and the checkout process is faster.

 

When I preordered my Series 0 Apple Watch, I got on when preorders went up, and I had to wait a month to get mine. Turns out I chose the most popular model.

The X will have limited stock so I expect the delivery time to go up really fast.

 

Thanks. I think the time is 9am here (UK) so hopefully people being at work will reduce the number who are able to get on. Luckily I already had the day booked for something else.

Not sure whether to just go for the 256 X as well as that'll surely be less in demand.

 

Is there going to be any way to stand a solid chance at getting an X or is it every man and woman for themselves on October 27th to get it preordered?

Apple Upgrade Plan costs a few dollars more per month than the carrier upgrade plans, but Apple Upgrade Plan includes Apple Care +.

After over 7 years using an iPhone with no case, I busted my iPhone 7 Plus screen a couple months ago, and Apple Care was a huge benefit.

 

Anyone else having iTunes / apple account issues today? Been asked to logged back in on all of my devices and for some reason the latest episode of Halt and Catch Fire is missing from my season pass. Just has the latest "Inside episode 5" feature and says I need a season pass to watch.

Did a quick search of this issue and of course found like 50 apple discussion posts from 2008 regarding this (as usual)

 

Weird. That happens every once in a while to me. A log out and back in usually fixes it.

 

Wife ordered an 8 on Friday, but I'm still waiting it out for the X.

Still not sure how I feel about going from 128 GB to 64 GB, but that $9 per month jump will already be felt in our budget.

I might be able to convince the wife that the 256 is worth it. Her biggest reason for not getting the X was not wanting to go from paying $36 per month to $49 and cutting her memory in half.
