I think it's like all gestures on touchscreen phones. At one point it seems annoying or not Natural but after awhile it becomes second nature.

Honestly I look at people doing that drag to type thing and think I don't get how people can do it but I know people who swear by it and it's like second nature to them.

 

This just amazes me. It's on the same level as the current Macbook and the last gen Macbook Airs. I don't do anything on my phone to really take advantage of that horsepower, but it's just an amazing thing in its own right.

I remember as a kid I got a Gameboy Advance and was stunned. "The games we played on SNES 5 years ago fit in our pocket now!" This makes me feel like that. It's just so cool.

 

this is great. delivering on last year's promise to give preference to IUP users after 128 7 Plus' were so hard to come by

I think I'm going to just say F it and go for the 256 gb X, for a couple reasons. I want the X but I don't want to go from my current 256gb iphone down to 64gb. I also think it will be easier to get my hands on a 256 X cause I think most people will only be willing to pay for the 64gb X. And it's what 72 extra dollars for the year on the upgrade program? I'm fine with that.

I am slightly concerned about the lack of home button and Face ID. I think I'll get used to the swipe gestures, but I already know there's going to be times where I wish it had Touch ID. There's some times when you want to be sneaky/polite and just take a quick peek at your phone, and I'm not sure Face ID is really going to allow for that without being super obvious.

 

Totally worth it for the camera. Telephoto zoom is something else.

 

There will still be the quick 4-digit passcode option for some discreetness.

 

Yeah that's true, but the passcode isn't quite as discreet. I wish they'd been able to figure out how to embed Touch ID into the screen itself but sounds like the technology wasn't quite ready.

 

As someone who owned a Google Pixel and thought the swipe up to access the app drawer was going to be difficult to learn, you;d be surprised how quickly gestures become second nature.

Face ID is great for the X, but I hope on next years base models (9 and 9 Plus?) they go with the full screen, but maybe just pop the fingerprint scanner on the back or find a way to put it in the apple logo.

 

For those who pre-ordered the iPhone 7 last year...

Is the Apple Upgrade Program an option to join during online pre-orders, or is this something that needs to be completed in an Apple Store?

Going to Verizon this afternoon to discuss my options.

 

fack going for a run with the iwatch 3 and without my phone plus being able to listen to music is the dream.

 

No more having to pre-set up a playlist if you want to run with just the watch.

 

In the past I've ordered upgrades through Verizon, and just let them handle the entire upgrade thing.

If you order direct from Apple, do they work with the carrier for the bill/upgrade stuff or is the only option to buy the phone outright and unlocked and then move your SIM over when it comes?

This is what I plan to find out this afternoon.

 

I just started playing around with it. It looks like it shares playlists, and shows what you've listened to.

 

When I ordered my 6s Plus I was able to log into my verizon account through Apple.com and they did everything from there. It was super simple.

 

Weird, it says I need a newer version of iOS to follow you. I'm on iOS 11 GM

 

That is weird. It works via the new iTunes update via the Mac. Haven't tried iOS yet.

 

When I got the 6 I did it through the Apple Store but they produce the new two year contract I was doing with Verizon so I could get the subsidized prices (the good old days)

 

I'm getting the same issue. I believe we have to wait until iOS 11 before we can share playlists and follow profiles through Apple Music. Wednesday, pls.
