  1. I'd assume it's closer to the $169 or maybe higher price for a replaced screen on the X.

Given the glass back, I think I'll probably add it to my phone just in case. Even though I've dropped my 6S (in case) on my concrete floors many times by accident with no breakage.

I was a caseless iPhone user for 8 years until I finally dropped and cracked my first screen earlier this summer. That experience is making me consider AppleCare, but I'm not sure yet.

  3. If you are going to have the phone for at least two years then yes it’s worth it. AppleCare is more than just having damaged covered - the second year of warranty is really great to have if something internal malfunctions

My current plan is to hold onto the iPhone X for at least three years. Is there a way to extend AppleCare, or is two years the maximum?

  5. 2 years is max

Haven't caught up on this thread since before the event but just want to pop in and say that the X blew me the hell away.
Don't even care I'm dropping $1000+ on it. WOW.

It's silly, but I'm almost kinda underwhelmed by the iPhone X. Or, at least, the price has me questioning my use case. The 256gb (64gb not an option for me) runs almost $1900AUD, which is absurd, and after being a huge fan of the size of the Plus I don't like the idea of going back to a smaller size handset and the subsequent loss of battery. I think the issue is that the iPhone 7 (and 8) are such beautiful devices it's hard to build an argument for trading up to the X at that price point, particularly when you might not be able to get your hands on the phone pre-2018 with potentially an improved/tweaked model coming just 9 months later. It's funny because I've been lusting after a bezel-free iPhone for years, and now that it's here I'm not nearly as hyped as I thought I'd be. All that said, I'll probably still end up buying one haha.

The cellular watch, however, really has the potential to be a game changer, but I just hope the telcos don't ruin it by charging excess amounts for data.

To me the game changer was the Apple Watch. Only one network in the UK providing coverage for it? fuck that.

  10. I love that apple replaced the home button for the iPhone X with gestures instead of making a virtual home button. I want this phone but I think I'll wait till next year to upgrade. I hate being a broke college student haha

So right now I pay monthly for my 6s through verizon upgrade program on my parents family account. They may want to get rid of the account once its paid off in a year. If I upgrage through apple would that extend my verizon contract as well?

I've bought phones through Apple. There is a way that they do the contract through Verizon or whatever major carrier you'd like to use. But is there anything as a two year contract anymore? I haven't bought a new phone since they went to the new pricing models.

not a 2 year contract really, I think youre just under contract until phone is paid off? I think i found a spot on apples site that says youre able to switch carriers at anytime since the upgrade is through them.

I really hope they can bring back the touch id for the next iphone x. Brilliant feature that works every time for me.

Yeah, now if I want to unlocked my phone i just reach over on my nightstand and my finger unlocks it. With the X i would have to hold it up to my face or possible input the passcode. A minor inconvenience.

I'd like to get one of the new ones, but I'm good with my 7. I'm getting a month to month credit for when me and the wife traded in my our 6s' and still have 12 or so months to go with that. I don't want to loose that good deal just to get a new phone.

Also I am unsure about a lot of things with the way the X works vs a "typical iPhone". Would want to try one first.

ALSO, whyyyyy go back to a glass back on the phones? I've seen a ton of people with shattered phone backs when that was a thing. I think what they had going with the 7s was fine. "Lets make these things MORE fragile."

Also depending on what kind of morning person you are, will your phone even recognize you in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning hah

haha, on the video, it looks like it'll learn over time to recognize you despite facial hair/hair cuts/hats, etc.

Yeah, after sitting on the info overnight, I think I will be just fine sticking with my 6S for awhile longer.

I'll wait for the X2 and use this year's holiday funmoney on the new apple tv and a 4k tv.

  23. Will maybe upgrade to the 8 because I'm on the upgrade program, although my 7 is easily my favorite iPhone I've ever had. Going to wait for some reviews first.

After watching some hands-on video, the swipe up gesture seems really obnoxious and like it would get old fast.

To me, it actually seems easy. I think all of the gestures could cause an early learning curve, but become second nature in no time.
