Don't have time to read the whole thing right now but this def wouldn't pass/work as a functioning policy as-is. If we assumed this got debated and had a chance of becoming law, you'd def see some reduction in benefits for certain things and some sort of deductible or co-pay system in place.

Got to March on the Hill yesterday. Met face to face with all the house and Senate reps in Western PA (and their staffers). Advocated for issues pertaining to medicine and patient advocacy, they were on board with it regardless of Republican or democrat. It was an awesome experience and I'll be doing this annually.

Totally honest here, if not for this thread over the years plus last year's election, I would've never done this. I enjoyed it and I highly suggest you guys do it if ever given the opportunity.

I like the 2 terms rule generally and get that it does protect us from getting too many years of bad rulers...but yeah Obama would have destroyed Trump and it would have been beautiful to watch him get beat by a black dude.

He always knew he couldn't beat him though and that's why he wussed out of 2012 when there was all the speculation.

If you need any more proof that Paul Ryan is dirt, his office is the only one with a massive sign saying "knock before entering, only set appointments are allowed". Everyone else had an open door policy.

    Jerk.

This may just be Capitol Hill gossip but apparently the Senate has tweaked ACA to McCain's liking to get him to vote for repeal. We'll see.

It's hopeless, if people aren't gonna vote now what the fuck are they waiting for? What are that many people doing? There were lots of more left candidates to vote for. (I'm not talking about mayor, but the turnout in general and across the ballot for other positions. 14% is second lowest ever). Things like public advocate, DA, judges etc. really matter. My friend told me they had 100 or less people show up to vote at their polling place. It's a joke.

Also, I have to ask; why is it that dsa rarely supports candidates that much? They supported one candidate out of a lot of leftist people running. They have at least 10s of thousands of people who go their meetings yet it seems like they rarely endorse leftists who are running on good leftist platforms. Do they have to specify that they're socialists in their campaign? There were plenty that ran with socialist values but didn't specify that they were. There has to be a reason. To only have one candidate in one district and then have only 500 people volunteer to help seems silly.

One of my only beefs with dsa. I think because a large component of the movement is the destabilization of the current political atmosphere as opposed to participating in it actively. I think it's foolish. At our last meeting we had an independent and a democrat running for smaller offices. It was really like a brushed off and ignored part of the meeting. We spent more time complaining over Fetonte.
